West Brom prepare big-money bid for Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere
Albion are today preparing a big-money bid to sign AS Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere, according to reports in France.
The Baggies have been monitoring former France Under-21s international Riviere for some time.
Sources close to Monaco claim the French club now expect a bid from the Baggies.
Riviere joined Monaco a year ago but a host of big-money signings could force him out of the first-team picture.
Albion have an interest but Monaco are unlikely to sanction a cut-price deal as Riviere is contracted until 2017.
That could push the asking price close to or past Albion's record transfer fee, which is currently the £6m they paid Sunderland for Stephane Sessegnon last summer.
Monaco paid Toulouse around £3.5m for Riviere a year ago.
Riviere has found his first-team appearances at Monaco limited with his only lengthy run in the side last season coming when Radamel Falcao suffered a serious knee problem.
The Colombian will be fit to return for the start of the season and veteran former Tottenham, Manchester United and Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov has also signed a contract there for next term.
