Stan Collymore: Ben Foster should not be playing for England
Former Villa striker Stan Collymore has turned his fire on Albion keeper Ben Foster – and said he should not be playing for England.
Foster was one of the few England men to emerge with credit from yesterday's final group game at the end of a disappointing World Cup challenge.
But Collymore, who is making a name for himself as one of the game's most outspoken figures, took a swipe at Foster over his retirement from the international game earlier in his career.
He claimed that the third-choice keeper in Roy Hodgson's squad, Celtic's Fraser Forster, should have played instead when Hodgson decided to rest Joe Hart.
Cannock-born Collymore tweeted his controversial view whilst commentating on the England v Costa Rica game for talkSPORT.
"Ben Foster shouldn't be keeping goal for #ENG tonight, Fraser Forster should. He's earned his chance, Foster hasn't IMO," tweeted Collymore.
When asked to justify his view by tweeters, Collymore added: "1, Forster is better, 2 Foster turned his back on Eng, 3 point 2 means no way back for me."
