The club lodged official complaints with Walsall and the Football Association after claiming offensive comments were made to goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and substitute George Elokobi during the match at the Banks's on Saturday, March 8, which the visitors won 3-0.

Following the complaints, Walsall carried out a full investigation and subsequently the Saddlers were cleared by the game's ruling body with no further action being taken.

A Wolves statement read: "While disappointing the individuals concerned could not be identified, the club thank the FA and Walsall for carrying out a full investigation into the players' complaints.

"Wolves, along with Walsall, remain committed to working to stamp out all discrimination within football and will support any of its players who report being on the end of racist abuse."

In their own statement, Walsall said: "Walsall's safety officer, Scott Hamilton, and the independent FA crowd control adviser went to see the match officials 45 minutes after the match and they did not refer to any reports of racism.

"The first Walsall FC were aware of this issue was upon notification from Wolves on the Monday following the Saturday fixture."

The FA wrote to Walsall, saying: "In the circumstances, we can confirm the FA is not in a position to take any further action in this matter."

The Saddlers added: "We have taken the allegation very seriously and have fully co-operated with the FA and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"We promote an inclusive philosophy. We are proud of the work we undertake within the local community and beyond and are committed to social inclusion.

"We have an excellent working relationship with Wolvesand wish them every success."
