Captain Kyle Storer today handed Kidderminster Harriers a boost by declaring his fitness for Saturday's Sunderland showdown.

The midfielder received extensive treatment on his ankle during Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat to Dartford.

Yesterday, Harriers boss Andy Thorn yesterday revealed the injury was being dealt with on a day-to-day basis.

But Storer says he has experienced no ill-effects and expects to be fit to lead out the team for the tie at the Stadium of Light.

"It was a little sore after the game and yesterday morning but it's fine now and I'm ready to play," he said.

"This is a massive game. As I think we've said before, for many of the boys this is as big as it gets.

"We'll be going there confident. As much as we want to enjoy the day we also know we've got a job to do.

"We aren't going there just to make up the numbers up. If we put in a performance you just never know, we could get a replay or maybe even sneak it, you just don't know."

Storer is no stranger to FA Cup drama having featured as a teenager for Tamworth when they took Stoke City to a replay and penalty shoot-out in 2006.

He was also in the Lambs squad that faced Norwich City the following season.

But he has never reached the fourth round before and is determined Harriers don't freeze on the day.

"It's important we aren't overawed," he said.

"I've obviously got a bit of experience in facing top opposition in the FA Cup and hopefully I can take that experience in.

"We are going to be professional about it. There is a lot of other things going on but the game is the most important thing.

"All I'm interested in is winning. I don't care if it is Sunderland or Dartford. We've got make sure we play the game and not the occasion."

Dartford are the reason the Harriers are heading into the game on the back of a defeat following their 2-1 win at Aggborough on Tuesday night.

The Aggborough pitch cut up badly in heavy rain and Storer admitted it is currently not conducive to Harriers' passing style.

"It's a real quagmire at the moment," he said.

"I'm hoping it will get a bit better as the weather improves.

"It was a disappointing defeat but we just didn't start right – we can't afford to do that on Saturday."
