Chasetown have sacked manager Chris Brindley ahead of Saturday's last game of the season after just seven months in charge.

The former Stafford Rangers boss was axed last night, after a dismal campaign which has left the Scholars on the brink of relegation.

They are fourth from bottom in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League after just one win since Boxing Day – one point from safety with one game left.

They could be pushed closer to relegation tonight if fifth-from-bottom Whitby win at Matlock, but could still be thrown two lifelines.

Northwich Victoria are potentially set to be thrown out of the league, while Whitby facing a possible one-point deduction.

Brindley arrived in October to replace Charlie Blakemore, who moved into the boardroom due to work commitments.
