Transfer rumours – January 5

Thursday 5th January 2012, 6:41AM GMT.

Expressandstar.com bring you transfer talk from Wolves, West Brom, Aston Villa, Birmingham and Walsall.

We have scoured the back pages and the internet to bring you the latest gossip.

We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves have emerged as a possible landing spot for Manchester City misfit Wayne Bridge. QPR are also interested in the player but wages of £95,000 a week could still be the stumbling block for both clubs.

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes has insisted that Wolves have not made a bid for his striker Nicky Maynard.

ASTON VILLA

Villa could make a sensational move for Chelsea forward Didier Drogba as they prepare to receive January bids for Darren Bent.

Alternatively, Villa have said that striker Darren Bent is not for sale at any price despite continued interest from Liverpool.

Queens Park Rangers have apparently made a £3million bid for Villa defender James Collins.

Villa are among a clutch of clubs said to be keeping tabs on out-of-favour Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios.

WOLVES/WEST BROM

Wolves and West Brom’s hopes of signing Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha could be scuppered by QPR who have apparently made a £2.5million bid for the defender.

WEST BROM

The Baggies are eyeing a move for Bolton and former Wolves midfielder Mark Davies. He would apparently cost Albion in the region of £4million.

West Brom are keen to open talks with defender Craig Dawson over a new contract at The Hawthorns.

BIRMINGHAM

Newcastle are said to be interested in Birmingham defender Curtis Davies.
