Hat-trick hero Marvin Robinson inspired Hednesford to a stunning last-gasp 6-5 win over Walsall in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

The striker struck in the last minute of extra-time after the Pitmen hit back from 4-2 down with nine minutes to go last night.

Will Grigg's double and goals from George Bowerman and Jamie Tank looked to have sent the Saddlers through.

But Robinson and Jay Denny made it 4-4 in normal time to spark late drama and send Hednesford into the third round.

First-team players Oliver Lancashire, Darryl Westlake, Ryan Jarvis and Grigg all started for the League One Saddlers.

Hednesford's Elliot Durrell opened the scoring with a determined header after seven minutes, before a swift Walsall move was neatly finished by Bowerman to level four minutes later.

Mark Danks curled a wonderful shot into the top corner to restore Hednesford's lead on 26 minutes, as the Pitmen refused to buckle.

But the Saddlers turned up the heat in the second-half and Grigg's quickfire brace just before the hour put them in control. Tank's goal made it 4-2 with 12 minutes remaining but the Pitmen hit back in stunning style.

Robinson bagged his first from Gary Hay's cross and Jay Denny sensationally equalised in injury time – after goalkeeper Dan Crane hit the bar.

It sent the tie into extra-time and youth team striker Aaron Williams edged Walsall back in front but the hosts, and Robinson, launched a late double raid.

The striker bundled in from close range with five minutes on the clock before sparking pandemonium with the winner at the death.
