not expecting an awful lot to happen at the Mol today, would love it if the three M’s had a few surprises up there sleeves but alas i just cant see it, i think Scott Dann would be a great bit of business and they’d get him at a steal today i reckon. and to compliment that signing a loan for a midfielder, Spearing from liverpool or Gibson from Man Utd? come on Moxey the faithful would be so happy with just one or two quality additions just to give us another option or cover for injuries etc….we trust in you the three M’s to make it happen.
up the mighty wolves…

Quite simple, get Scott Dann, job done.

Would love Albion to sign Scott Dann & Liam Ridgewell before the transfer window shuts. If this happens IMO, we will have filled the missing links and I would be a lot happier with our defence.
I would like to see Scott dann come in and a striker. I don’t think either will happen but fingers crossed.I also hope that O H goes to man city to sit on the bench rather than go to albion. I hope we can keep hold of milijas to u t w

Dann on a long term deal and a CM on loan would make my day.
But realistically is one loan deal to be done today and if so i hope its a CM to compete with Henry.
We might get a loan player … so the message from Mt Olympus suggested, and anyone (almost) at this stage would be welcome to most mere lowland folk.
Furthermore, I’ve just looked lovingly at the table showing Wolves have 7 points from 3 games and have told myself all will be well this year, new players or not. Howzat for happy clapping?
More importantly, I do hope all the lads come back in one piece from their international jaunts – if not Mother Hubbard’s cupboard just might look overflowing by comparison!
Right, job done, and lots to do outside – best of luck to all Wolves fans, critics and ovis’s alike and for my part I’ve found the piece of wood with my teeth marks in it from 22nd May 2011, 5.50pm ….. ;)

If we can bring someone in who will fit into our squad and wage structure and IMPROVE the 1st eleven then great.
If not, i am more than happy with going with what we,ve got. Having Johnson, and having Ohara for a full season is great business.
I hope Aston Villa will sign a midfielder today…fingers crossed
Report abuse
As an Albion fan, I’d love to see an experienced CB come in as well as a LB.
Would be well chuffed if they were Dann and Ridgewell respectively – even if we just got the former on a loan deal for now.
Wolves have made enquiry into signing Gary Hooper from Celtic
Report abuse
As a true baggie I would love WBA to get a new striker to day even if he never scored as long as we finish above the bottom two COME ON YOU BAGGIES
Report abuse
If we can get Cech out – that will free funds. I would expect a player or two may come in but those deals will only progress once Marek has passed his medical in Turkey. So the sooner that is completed the better. No doubt Irons are in the fire as we speak.
Whatever happens today JP has backed Roy with Foster and Long (and others) coming in and although I still think we need to shore up at the back a bit more we have improved the squad from what we had in May. Well done to JP and DA. Worth remembering securing Mulumbu, Brunt and PO has also been a valuable piece of business.
i agree with all fans on here wanting scott dann. cannot believe we havent got 5 million to match blackburns bid. we need a partner for olssen and a right back .
come on you baggies !

Have heard that Wolves are looking into the possibility of singing Gary Hooper. I would personally sign Scott Dann but we do need a back up for Henry

Just seen that QPR are trying to sign Craig Bellamy. It just gets better Warnock, Barton and Bellamy. Can’t wait to play them, not.

We NEED a left back AND have done for three seasons.
Splash the cash or there will be the usual descent to the relegation zone yet again.

This is all so boring, I’m going to sleep till 11pm tonight. Yawn, yawn, Yawn.
p.s. Wake me up if we buy Scot Dann.

Sky News says that McCarthy has been seen fishing at Tettenhall pool with a beer in his hand. Please tell him that there are no fish in that pool.
Cool on Lansbury, because a deal for one of our midfielders fell through!….sigh. Only one thing for it then, down on my knees and hands together….please God, no big injury problems before January (especially to Johnson, Doyle and Fletcher), Thank you
Report abuse
Something HAS to be ‘up’ with Scott Dann. £5m is a snip in this day and age so I can’t understand why more Clubs haven’t been in for him. I’m especially disappointed that we haven’t made a move for him. Berra is playing well but we all know he’s vunerable. I would also love to see competition for Henry.
BBC 5 Live’s Ian Dennis on Twitter: “Scott Dann currently at Blackburn so that deal progressing from Birmingham City.”
GUTTED!
Scott Dann would be the perfect partner for Jonas Olsson, surely we have 5million available for a player like that!
I have been told that Keith Andrews has just arrived, should add a bit of class to our midfiled. lets hope we forget he was a Wolves player.
Apparently the Fee for Dann is still not agreed. Time for a quick phone chat between JP and BCFC’s Peter Pannu. He’ll certainly have time to get back down the M6 if we can agree a fee!
Just doesn’t seem to be the kind of action Jeremy Peace or Dan Ashworth would take. Ah well wishful thinking.
Free Agents Tom Cruise & Tamir Cohen with striker Naismith from Rangers most would cost 5m in transfers and we would be a mid table prem team with those signings. Up the Wolves.
would like wolves to go in for Rivas, a cb who has just been released by inter milan, He’s got to be better than berra even if he has had a good start to the season!
Someone who can put the ball in the net is a must.Doyle and Fletch have a wonderful work ethic but a “Fox in the Box” out and out goal scorer please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got to say I’m concerned with how teams round about us (bottom 6-8) are strengthening would have thought Dann for £5M we would have gone in and Jermaine Jenas available seems to fit exactly what we need in centre with O’Hara.
Just breaking on Sky Sports Italia that United agree £34.3m with Inter for Snijder!
Come on Wolves we need a defender and midfielder. IMO Ridgewell and Lansbury and we’re sorted.
Have it on good authority that Wolves wont bring anyone in unless they let someone go.
On a more positive note, heard we have rejected big money bids for both Jarvis and Doyle so lets just be thankfull that were not selling all out best players like arsenal…
To be honest if we can keep our players fit, then i think we can wait till Jan to spend our money then !!
GREAT START WOLVES, WELL DONE !!!
You don`t really think we are going to sign someone do you?As long as Moxey pulls the strings we will never fulfill our potential. He hasn`t got a clue.Mick should be able to say who he wants and behave like a manager but as long as Moxey is around,no chance.Steve Morgan prefers to sit in his office looking at the plans for his new stand instead of telling Moxey who to go and get.Jenas ,in midfield with O`Hara could be good, and certainly Dann with Johnson would be a good partnership and then there`s the left back position to be sorted.Come on Morgan, get rid of Moxey and lets get the team sorted once and for all.
Unlikely Wolves will splash the cash – although we have it! Why are we linked with Hooper? It’s irrelevant what he has done in the SPL, as even Blues have done better in Europe than the SPL sides! Most needed signing is someone to challenge Henry. The nearest we had was young Davis and he has been loaned out. Plus why are we trying to get rid of Milijas? What happens if O’Hara gets injured.
On a positive note. Apart from being undefeated with 3 clean sheets out of 4, you won’t see us fighting in the dressing room. Mad Mick would sort em… even big George.
So now Davis has gone out on loan, that leaves us with 3 match fit CM’s?? Surely we are incredibly short in midfield and could do with a season long loan for someone like Lansbury, or the likes of Jenas who are both surplus at their parent clubs. We saw it last season against Stoke with a few injuries that our squad wasn’t capable of coping, now we have released 17 players and only bought in 3??
34. you have hit the nail on the head…its a BIG if we can keep our players fit, even if we do it is still going to be hard to stay out of trouble, Doyle will be injured sometime during the season as this seems to be the norm for him, we are playing on confidence at the moment but a couple of bad results and that will go, then we will need quality to get us through and just adding Johnson from last seasons 1st team is NOT enough…personally I hate Moxey’s arrogance towards tranfers etc,.. I think all Wolves fans were expecting at least 3-4 quailty signings, Johnson and the permanent signing of O’Hara is not enough to keep us out of trouble.
Sky are reporting Wolves are after Gary Hooper from Celtic. That is the sort of move we need, without strikers you don’t win matches, and I suspect we will have injuries in that department all season, and cannot get by on what we have got. A centre forward for me, is a priority over a midfielder, and I will feel everything will crash around us unless we get someone in to give Doyle and Fletcher cometition. As they have none at the moment, even with SEB fit, we are like to have one of the others injured. A recipe for disaster if you ask me.
Can someone explain to me how the hell are “stoke, sunderland and qpr” signing such players!!
Up the “WOLVES”.
If Albion fail to bring in a decent centre half they are in for a painful second season.
The same defensive problems as last year are already showing through.
Probably too late for this window.
If the penny drops to sort it out by the end of January it would probably be too late.
Great midfield but defence is an issue along with the ongoing Odemwingie injury which is turning into a saga.
Another attacking option, especially if the Thomas rumour gets real.
Fingers crossed but Ridgewell looks a ‘no no’ at the moment so who is out there?
The short term expensive loan fix so we give them back looks the only option.
Marston Green Wolves – Do you know that Fletch was in the spl before he went to Burnley?
I have been a fan of Gary Hooper’s for ages and would love to see him in Old Gold but I honestly don’t see him leaving Celtic or them prepared to sell.
If we are going to try and pull something off in the next few hours surely it has got to be a midfielder to cover (or replace) Karl Henry.
UTW
Report abuse
We’re not going for him or him, who the hell are we going for then? Nobody that’s who! We are going to be up the creek when injuries and suspensions strike. Another joke of a transfer deadline day for us while our rivals help themselves in the sweet shop – gutted!!!
No-one will be coming to the Brom yet everyone knows we need a centre half.Once again you,ve let us down Mr Peace You could have had Dann but £5m scared you off,yet you are willing to invest millions in the Halfords Lane stand when we can’t fill what we’ve got.I’d love to see a row of seats prevent a goal.
Very disappointed but used to it now.

Ok it is beginning to look as if “mm” will not be doing any business.
Only time will tell if the correct decision as been made.
Personally I think us being on 7 points as caused us to beleive we will finish top 10!
I would however point out that the performance against “VILLA” was very poor the players looked out of sorts also very “TIRED”
Likes of “Doyle and Fletcher ” hardly chased a ball down, which is so unlike Doyle.
Could this be due to “MM” over working players? After all he does like “SHIFT” putting in players in training hence why the likes of “MILIJIAS,SEB” get a look in!
Liam Ridgewell all the way and believe he will sign!
Message for “spanishray”.
In the last 5 years Wolves have gone from Championship play off challengers to “almost” premier league regulars. This has been done by an ambitious and shrewd owner (Mr. Morgan), the best manager since John Barnwell and Bill McGarry showing gradual yet consistent improvement (Mr. McCarthy) and a chief executive who has learnt how to run a football club (Mr. Moxey).
All 3M’s are absolutely perfect for Wolves and any criticism shows how short sighted and blinkered you are, especially given the previous 25-30 years of absolute mediocrity.
Lay off these guys as they are showing most of the league how to run a successful club. I for one would rather see gradual improvement than a revolution which could also see possible collapse.
Well done the 3M’s, all of you and please carry on ignoring the muppets.

Why not Nedum Onuhoa on loan? Gives us quality cover at CB and LB.

42. same here, we never seem to sign anyone on last day,…i agree with not signing for the sake of it but weve made one 1st team addition from the team that finished last season and have let 17 leave on various deals.
I honestly feel let down yet again with “job done” Moxey…we are building a new, bigger stadium but are not building at the same speed on the field,…end of the day the stay away/armchair fans in these financially hard times will need to see something to excite them to get them back in the stadium and we are just not doing that..surviving year after year isnt going to bums on seats.

wALLHEATHWOLF [39]HOW OLD ARE YOU,10?]Take the blinkers off and you will see how Moxey deceives the fans.e.g.this morning they were thinking of going for Lansbury of Arsenal. This afternoon Lansbury has gone to West Ham.This if you wake up is the sort of stories Moxey in particular has put about on several players and the results have been the same. You should know we want a partner for Johnson and a Left-back at the very least. Finally ,if you meet any Stoke supporters ask them what Moxey did with Stoke who,by the way,got rid of him ,unfortunately onto Wolves.
By the gods, that was a long, hard day outside, any more like it and I’ll be in my box. For a start I must have shovelled two tons of manure …talking of which, how’s work on the window progressing … when I saw the name Lansbury flicker on the screen and we had failed in our quest … I was glad … Angela’s a superb actress no question, but I didn’t like her as a Miss Marples ‘tryalike’ and she’d certainly be no good starring alongside George (the Cube not Raft).
Hats off to Moxey he did his damnedest and, if as believed, he did spend his day getting better coverings for the seats in the new stand, what more could one ask?
the only player wolves his going to get his mr blobby oh i forgot hes in his office counting his pennies and his bounus looks like were going to struggle now whats wrong with 3 ms

Looks like Moxey has left us short again any injury to Johnson or Berra and we will be back to last years defence and we we all no what happened on survival sunday.

The baggies need to strengthen. Everyone else around us seems to be doing it and we are not. Our defence is frail and we need a fix. If Albion cant compete with Blackburn for Dann we may as well give up now. Come on JP show some ambition!

Getting really angry and frustrated……… We have 1 extra player over last season….. does that mean the board are happy to be safe with 20 mins before the end of the season!!!!!!!!!!!!
We dont have the strength in depth for god’s sake!!!!!!!!!!
Wolves fans stop waiting for something to happen as its not, there have been some decent players available this time at reasonable prices,…just feel let down again and go back to my statement before,..what kind of message is this sending to the fans… yes it needs to be the right signing, but that last day transfer lifts the excitment of the fans and in turn the club…we are desperately short on strikers now but no cover apart from Vokes!. just feel short changed yet again by “job done” Moxey.
What great Hawthorns transfer activity this summer at the Hawthorns. We must have more money floating around than any other club in the country, which account is it in Jeremy. Not in the transfer kitty obviously. We have spent well at 4 mill on Long, 1 good addition to squad in Zoltan & 1 good loan in Foster. The others have big question marks against them and everyone can see we need at least 2 strong defenders before 11 tonight, will it happen – dont hold your breath. Typical WBA.

Absolute disgrace. Mcarththy states he does not want wolves in europe, sureley no one agrees. we sign two new players for a team that was so lucky to stay up. he cant pick the best defence I am glad i did not renew season ticket. 55 SpanishRay. We’re used to your ignorant outbursts but it’s embarrassing in front of the Tescos on a shared board. (just read 35 again, it is indeed shocking) You were told to stick to the Beano and not get out of your depth with stuff they print in The Star.
Just for the record Sir Jack HEADHUNTED Jez from Stoke. They didn’t “get rid of him”
When MM used the description numpty he was surely talking about you !

Am I the only one quietly pleased that we are not getting involved in the circus that is the deadline day? Don’t get me wrong, it would have been nice to see one more midfielder to cover Henry but let everyone else carry on panic buying and spending over the odds for players they would have got for half the price last month.

Why would anyone be suprised we havent brought anyone in
moxey doesnt care about wolves only himself
less money spent no doubt more bonus for him at the end of the season.we are only a couple of injuries away from struggling again.no one is advocating spending vast amounts but a couple ofquality players would have scene us establish ourselves

We have signed 1 player to one of the worst defence’s in the prem league last season……… We are in our 3rd year…… is someone gonna tell me £8M is all we can afford to spend. Really thought we would show some ambition…. feel cheated. I travel a long way home and away to games…. I make the effort for my club…. Why should I not expect the same from the board.
i’m so angry we have not strengthened a poor defence, OMG if Scott Dann had gone to a top club then fine….. but for gods sake Blackburn…. someone is havin a laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spanish Ray et al. As earlier people have said don’t embaress yourselves. £10 mill spent on RJ/JOH and their wages plus the goalie. Add that to the wages of the other players plus staff/academy and that is where the money has gone. Not in anyones back pockets. The club, like Albion, should not go into hock and I believe that both us and Albion will become a model on how to grow a football club through quiet, sensible and assured ambition. I don’t agree with everything the club is doing but compare to where we were five years ago.
69.
exactly, were not asking to break the bank or unsettle the balance at the club, but a couple more quality signings is what we all expected and more importantly NEEDED to compete at this level, all we keep getting is that the players we already have from the championship have taken some magic tablets and are now premiership quality players!! is that a pig flying….??
All we wolves fans asked for this season was a shoring up of our defence. 76 goals i think we shipped last season, yet only one new defender brought in. If god forbid Johnson gets injured we are screwed.
Lets hope doyle comes back from Ireland Duty injury free as he normally gets injured.
If this was to happen and we lose O’Hara and Johnson then its back to Bottom of Table relegation fight.
I know we have had a start to the season that is beyond our wildest dreams, but c’mon lets face it most of the team are from our championship season three years ago.
17 players shipped out how much more money do they want to save. But then again we are building a new ground to be left a quarter empty.

Yet another summer /transfer window where the fans have supported the club but the board / JP have not supported the fans.JP claims we do all our transfer business in the summer window so on that basis it is going to be a long winter as the January window may as well not exist as far as wba are concerned.
11th place last year-2 or 3 good signings in the right places and who knows where we could go?Given the business we have done however i fear the worst, and, how long will Roy Hodgson stand it?

Deadline day!!! I must say I am pleased we have not signed anyone today.Has I firmly beleive That we should have signed a couple of players before today. It is hilarious that all these clubs are buying players today and not before!
These are professionaly run clubs!! Or are they!?
It obviously hurts that the progression we were promised as not materialised,we spent more money in our first season.I would have thought this being our third season we would have atleast spent on a par with the previous two!
As there is certainly alot more in income then before.

I am absolutely shocked that you think that we have strengthened enough!!!!!!
I know Johnson is good but jesus christ, if he gets injured we are in the crap again.
We have got 3 strikers and one of those is injured??????

Another superb bit of business from Mr Moxey, even keeping everybody waiting expectantly up to the last minute; what a wizard wheeze! Ha ha.
Spend little, acquire much… this will be Wolves best ever balance sheet and Mr Morgan will make an absolute mint from this forthcoming season. No doubt Mr Moxey and Mr McCarthy will be rewarded with well-deserved, excellent bonus’s.
Congratulations on everyone’s financial acumen, now let’s just hope that the playing staff can keep the business up in the Premiership again.

oh well,…there’s always the Jan window when we can also do nothing!!…I seriously think that if we struggle again this season the fans will turn on the 3M’s, Moxey in particular….it just dosnt make sense to go ahead with developing the ground then not back it up enough on the field,..now the work has started premier league football is the only option or we are going to be in a right mess…I know its a bit doom and gloom from me tonight but im peev’ed off…I agree with the other comments that it shouldnt have been left til the last day anyway.

Both Albion and Wolves have been rather reserved in this window in terms of spending and I’m not convinced either of us have got what we need.Johnson and Long are both decent recruits but more was needed at the back in both camps. And rocket science wasn’t needed to see it either. I think it may be a long season for us both.

I’m baffled by inaction at the Baggies. Pablo, an experience centre half, signs for Blues, yet we don’t replace him. Are we really pinning our hopes on the 31 year-old from Ipswich – or the young Dawson, from Rochdale? I’ve also seen Billy Jones in action at Bournemouth – he’s a plodder, who will find the step up to the Prem’ a near impossibility. Yet Roman is still with us, in a striking line-up which includes Long, Cox, Fortune, Tchoyi and Odemwingie. Fine in midfield, too. But defence? We’ve only had one clean sheet in all pre-season friendlies, five goals against us already in the Prem’ and a goal against a Third Division outfit. A real slip-up, this time, which I fear could cost us dear.

Glad we didnt get involved in deadline day circus . have you seen some of the transfer fees clubs are paying. they are paying over the odds. both us and Albion are well run Clubs without any debt thats got to be the way forward . and im sick of hearing people say Moxey doesnt care about wolves just himself. look at the state of th clubs finances when he came in compared to now. surely the higher we finish in the prem the bigger bonus he will get so him not buying players to make himself more money makes no sense. lets just sit back and watch teams like Stoke throw money around and pay players stupid wages look at the problems Hull and Birmingham are having .

A team that has obvius flaws and limitations in the central defensive area let three defenders go and bring nobody in.
Risk game if hopes are based on Billy, Gareth and Craig quickly making the grade.
We clearly do not have the pulling power or possibly the willingness to splash the cash.
The last week or so has sadly illustrated the rich are getting richer and untouchable.
It was almost impossible to compete with the big six prior to the season starting; now its simply a joke.
England has always laughed and mocked Celtic and Rangers dominance because of lack of a level playing field in Scotland.
We have that problem big time now in the prmiership.
If Albion can make a fist of it and survive this season it will be a far greater achievement than the big guns and their ever growing trophy cabinets.

And as the hour of eleven approached, Jez moved centre stage, before him on the table was a huge hat and a magician’s wand, beyond were a crowd of happy clappers applauding dutifully(the sceptics weren’t allowed in, they observed from outside, noses pressed against the window pane).
With all the skill of the practised illusionist Jez rolled up his sleeves to show no hidden props before delving a hand into the capacious hat. A few frantic swirls had the hat spinning and then his hand came out lightning fast and reached high into the air ….. it was empty! The clappers stood as one, cheering and chanting, ‘Jez for king ….. Jez for king ….. Jez for king ….’ and outside the sceptics fell about chanting something sounding very similar, but meaning something very different! With that the transfer window closed and another day beckoned.
However, forget the lost millions, leave the arithmetic to Jez ….. you know he will easily get things to balance ….. for we lowland folk all we need to do is get our heads around the idea that 42 points will be enough (more than last year), which means the playing staff now need to get 35 points from 35 games and if (what is left of them once the meaningless internationals are done with) they can get the better of Spurs who are next up, the equation will be 32 from 35.
Good grief, we’ll be almost there!!
As for the shadow, shadow squad (is it now 16? Jeeez Jez) cluttering the highways and byways of Europe as they go in search of a paid game of footie, I have the solution for at least some of them ….. that is if anyone has a stash of P45′s I can use for those still on the books.;)

If McCarthy really is the Jose Mourinho (I tell it like it, that’s why nobody likes me) of English footy,(sic) why doesn’t he stand up to Moxey and demand the support in terms of players we are told they are searching for. Don’t give me the Billy Quiet drivvle about our Irish International left back and G Unit being enough because WE KNOW IT WON’T. Survival struggle yet again. Builds character or saps confidence?

Complete lack of ambition, if we do go down god forbid we will lose what little notoriety and respect we have made and perhaps players as well, it will mean starting all over again. Surely 10 million spent on dann and a decent midfielder would have been recouped by the end of the season.
It is wrong to say that teams pay over the odds for players on deadline day – Dann for £5 million was an absolute snip at his young age and sound though RJ is, Dann has far more long term potential. Anyway though we might have gone for a player like Nedum Onuhoa who has versatility who could have been invaluable when the certain injuries strike.
Like most of us we do have a pretty good starting 11 but for how long? The best and most ambitious teams have good solid Premier level back ups too. All we have to call upon are talented but inexperienced academy lads – deeply worrying.
Obviously Stoke have Champions League aspirations and it riles me a bit because all things considered we are a bigger club than them and when they go in for players like Crouch and Adam Johnson then really!
What does happen if RJ gets injured? Don’t even want to think about that one!
Realistically, another relegation scrap here we come.

It is very disappointing that we at the Wolves have done so little to improve on last years squad both pre-season and during this last week or so i just hope the smug and smarmy Jez Moxey is happy in his job, even the best teams look to strengthen their squads but not us apparently.
Reading the comments though it is amazing the similarity in the basic core made by Wolves and Albion fans and i have heard similar things said by Villa fans, must be a Midlands thing.
As disappointed as we all are we do need to get things into perspective though and look at what is happening at the Blues. They have sold players for decent money yet are having to rely on a 6 million pound high interest loan from their newly appointed vice chairman to pay the bills. Terrible state of affairs and anybody at the Wolves who remembers the Bhattis and what they did to us will surely sympathise with the Blues fans. I have no great love for Birmingham City but i hope they come through this.

So, over the last three years Wolves have recruited megastars of the quality of Shackell, Halford, Surman, Moyoukolo, Maierhofer, Mujangi Bia etc and they have done exactly what? A tribute to the scouts and management eh? There were rumours yesterday of 2 guys in clown suits being seen in the management suite at Molineux. Sadly not potential recruits in disguise but people already on the staff.
Having gained a bit of momentum from wins against two poor Premiership teams there was an opportunity to strengthen and Wolves failed to take it. Isn’t it sickening to watch similar sixed clubs making good signings and have that awful feeling that yet again Wolves are left behind? And before any idiot out there comes back with rubbish about the team being strong enough and full of internationals etc let’s remember they are internationals for minor countries. Yes Jarvis played for England but he wasn’t exactly first choice was he? If others had been fit he would not make the squad. This is a sad situation. Injuries to any three of the first team regulars will see Wolves in trouble. The team is weak and lacks depth. I rather expect the games against bigger clubs to be embarrassing. Forget the bonus points from scrappy wins against the big lads, it isn’t going to happen. So when the transfer window opens again Wolves will be bottom six and again be an unattractive proposition for potential signings, particularly at the rates Wolves pay.
Never mind, we’ll have the best stadium in the Championship.

MM has said all laong he is happy with his squad – we are not a chelsea or Man City who can afford to spend millions on players that don’t play. Ideally of course if the right players wanted to play here in the positions that needed cover (Centre back / left back / forward) then we would ahve got them. However only time will tell but to date (unbeaten) we are looking like a team which has adapted to the premiership and playing keep football and not making silly mistakes in “bad” areas.
I would rather be where we are than a Birmingham or Portsmouth or like Man U £750M in debt – cuz when Fergy does go what then for the best team in English football (at the moment): What happens when the Sheikh gets bored at Man City? We live within our means which for me is not a bad thing and means we will continue for many more seasons to come.
We haven’t signed anyone so lets move on and get behind the lads; the wolves as a club as we are all in this together – the black countries ours.

Our lack of activity in the transfer market just shows where Morgan’s priorities lie:Developing the club’s property portfolio at the expense of the team.Is it surprising in view of how he has made his millions?.You cant blame Moxey or Mick as ultimately they are both told what to do by their employer.ie our Liverpool supporting chairman. They say one man doesnt make a team, but Morgan is in reality saying to Roger Johnson,I am expecting you to ensure the club finishes higher than last year. Why oh why did we not sign a left back (having said in the Summer we needed one)? Ridgewell was an obvious contender! We will get found out against the better sides, even Norwich with their wingers. Our current full backs get turned easily, Ward lacks pace and Stearman lacks strength. They, plus Berra are not Premiership defenders.
Why oh Why did we loan out Davis untill January? He looked class alongside O’Hara pre-season.
A great start to the season, which could be thrown away by blinkered complacency.

Just been having a look at all the ins and outs at clubs, there are only 2 other teams that have sighned as few players as us(3)they are Man Utd, who won the league last year any way and everton who are all but bankrupt! And at least all the players they have signed are brand new ones. One of ours we had on loan last year and our other will be on the bench most of the season so we’ve pretty much just added one new player to our playing squad, who don’t get me wrong, I am very pleased with! But for a team that just narrowly escaped relegation last year, is it really enough?? Earlier on in the summer MM was talking about 2 new CB’s a new LB, midfielder and striker. Feel a little let down! I do think our first team is capable of surviving but come the winter when fixtures are coming thick and fast and the suspensions and injuries start kicking in, then I do worry slightly!

As a Wolves follower for many years I have always been amazed at the negativity prevelent amongst many fellow fans. So clubs like QPR have splashed the cash during the dying moments of the transfer window on largly uncalculated impulse buys , but poor old Neil Warnock hasn’t even started to make a functioning team out of them yet. As with West Ham and Brum last year, I wouldn’t be surprised to see QPR trying to offload over-expensive players next year, after having returned to the Championship within a year. The only clubs who have good fortune on deadline day, are the clubs with a huge squad already that will swallow them up when it doesn’t work out. So we did’t go for Scott Dann but we did get Johnson, not only an excellent centre back but a natural captain and leader. Even if he get’s injured he’ll still be leading and gelling the team together. That’s what has been missing in the previous years and now MM has got it. Don’t forget, the combination of Dann and Johnson didn’t stop the Blues demise last year, did it? Please don’t automatically critisize the club when when new acquisitions don’t work out; it’s no different to any employer who takes on new staff, sometimes they will simply not fit in the team regardless of how good their sparkling CV was. Let them go with a handshake and believe that the next acquisition will work out better. I believe that is the attitude of the 3M’s and God bless them for it.

We are taking a huge gamble .. hoping the short term strategy enables the long term strategy to take effect.
Put simply, we are trying to spend the minimum possible in order to survive in The Premiership.
We are doing this to fund a long term strategy of a siginifantly bigger and better revenue generating ground, and a fantastic region leading training and academy facility.
We will all have our view on how we are doing with such a gamble. That is what is happening. Of course, it can rightly never be expressed by the Club like that, whilst it is actually taking place.
If it pays off, then we will be a much bigger long term club than all of our Midlands rivals apart from Villa. We will also be a Club truly befitting a Top 10 Premiership standing.
The flipside is a repeat of 2004 relegation. After Moxey appointed Hoddle, we finally ended up with no parachute payment, and £40 million of debt after 2 failed Championship seasons. We were a selling club reliant entirely on free transfers. The only reason Steve Morgan bought the Club was because of Sir Jack’s incredible final gesture of writing off £40 million debt, and selling for £1. Morgan wouldnt have touched us with a bargepole otherwise.
Its a fascinating time.. do you go down the Stoke spending route to establish yourselves ..or do you go down the Morgan driven Wolves infrastructure route
Both approaches are ultimately gambles.. but then you have to choose one of the 2 routes if we want long term success, rather than perennial yo yo

At the end of the summer window Aston Villa have perhaps done the best business with Given, Hutton, Jenas and the Zog adding to their quality from last season, if Wolves don’t have the money then sadly that’s way it is same for the Albion. Wolves have taken on two players that are costing big money on wages for the size of our club hence why 17 or 15 players have left the club just keep the bill in check I guess. However our lack of depth is a major concern look what happened to Birmingham last season, either injuries or poor form and when confidence is knocked out of our players it could go horribly wrong but having said that take each game as it comes and we’ll see if three players we have signed will make the difference.

Steve bull stand – 100% correct. Add to that the fact that the rest of the players have yet another premier league experience, we are looking allot stronger. Although I do not wish to be the spectre of doom after such a fantastic start to the season (four away points, two clean sheets and the manner in which we have been able to ‘control’ long periods of games are particularly pleasing), I am slightly disappointed that we have not used our new found ‘momentum’ to bring in one or two more players (left back as a priority with a central midfielder or additional centre half secondary).
We should not forget that, in effect, only one player has been added to a side which escaped relegation only by the very finest of margins.
Although I acknowledge that we are in a much better position (with respect to the fitness of key players) than we were at either the start or the end of last season, I do feel that two or three injuries (involving Johnson, O’Hara, Fletcher or Doyle) could see us return to the scrap in which we have found ourselves for much of the last two years.

125 speaks a lot of sense however I feel that the management were very complacent last January and we escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth. We have repeated this complacency one more and I feel we are short on quality in a number of areas and beware 3 games do not make a season.
Also Mr. Moxey raised my expectations when he said we might have to break our transfer record to get the players we want and it may well go right to the end of the transfer window.
Well we are only one player better off in the first team this season compared with how we finished last season. i dont believe we will be relegated but I think we will end up near the bottom. Very disappointed thought we could have pushed on more this year. Hope the new ground is better than half full because at the moment we struggle to sell out the existing facility. We lack QUALITY!

I have no complaints with the business we have done this season.
We are much stronger this time round and we have good cover on the bench too with Zubar, Foley Blake, Vokes, Edwards and Miljas.
I don’t want Wolves to start spending ridiculous amounts of money on the likes of Crouch, Wright Philips, Bellamy etc, there all overpaid journeymen who arenot good enough for the team they were at.
Scott Dann is not as good as his hype, thats why he’s ended up at Blackburn.
We are being run very well. In the 3Ms i trust.

Whilst it is good that Wolves have not lost any of their key players and we have other players returing to fitness, I can’t help but think we have missed an opportunity here to sign Dann at a bargain price and to add a left back on loan.
I think the Board and Manager may have been a little complacent due to our temporary league position and hop it won’t come back to haunt them.
Stoke obviously felt they needed to strengthen and have showed some ambition. Wolves have been prudent and cautious, but I wonder if they have been over cautious this time and doubt the ambition of fans is matched by that of those running the club.

I wondered about Scott Dann too – and even now I’m curious, after all the speculation, as to why he ended up at Blackburn of all places. I accept that our young squad have yet another year’s Premier League experience under their belts and that can only be helpful to our cause – they are not as wide-eyed and wondering as they were a couple of seasons ago. I would have liked another quality central defender, and defensive midfielder added to the current squad.

I’m disappointed that Wolves haven’t signed a left-back before the transfer deadline, and we could also do with a new ‘Paul Ince’ in midfield IMHO.
However, I think it’s too easy for us to assume that Jez spent yesterday sitting around eating pies rather than getting on the phone, when we have no real idea what goes on behind the scenes.
Doing these kind of deals is difficult, and I hate to say it, but persuading top stars and their WAGs to leave London for Wolverhampton can’t be easy either.
If the 3Ms did try and fail to sign reinforcements yesterday, it doesn’t help anyone to issue a press release saying “Wolves aren’t good enough and we can’t persuade anyone any better to join use either”, does it?
Personally, I think we’ve come a long way as a club in 10 years and I’m delighted that we’re now on our third consecutive season in the Premiership. If it was easy to do, why have 80-odd other league teams not done the same thing?
Yeah, there are probably better managers than Mick, better CEOs than Moxey and better chairmen than Steve Morgan. But us Wolves fans of all people should know that there are a heck of a lot worse.

The majority of comments on here relate to not bringing in new players.
Each new signing requires a massive cash investment, not just the transfer fee, but also the committed wages for the term of their contracts.
And will any new signing guarantee the club stays in the PL?
Any investment is speculative. It will be interesting to see how many of the ‘panic’ deadline signings by others will work out.
If the club should spend money that it does not have, or might not have in the future, then say hello to lower division football.
I doubt anyone on here has any idea of the true workings of this or any other club.
As supporters/followers you can wish for all you like, but the admin of the club are responsible for its running and we should leave them to do it.

Such is life as a Wolves supporter, high expectations, dashed yet again. Its not all doom and gloom though, 3 games and no defeats, so only another 35 nail biting matches to go. Then like excited school children, we can live through the next summer transfer window, in eager anticipation of the stars to arrive. The good news is of course, that with the amount we have saved over the last 2 or 3 seasons, the transfer kitty will be of a considerable size. It would have been nice to maybe bring one more in but the league already looks weaker this year than it was last and there are easily a few teams that will struggle. Roger Johnson has really improved the defence, Berra looks better and more confident with him there, Henry is playing better without the arm band, we are playing more attacking going with Fletch and Doyle up front and the whole squad now have the Premier League experience, which is something that can not be brought.
Judge the purchases at the end of the season, that’s when it ultimately matter.

Why am I not surprised by a lack of activity leading up to the closing of the transfer deadline. The policy never changes with this regime during the lead up to each transfer window. Targets for season tickets need to be achieved, replica kit, albeit rubbish, needs to be sold and of course enthusiasm needs to be maintained, etc etc.
What is most annoying is that the paying public are treated with such contempt. A CEO who promises supporters that the executive will do what is needed to provide success, a promise which is then cynically reduced as the cash flow holds up. A team manager who refers to any descenting supporters as Numpties, a man who in my opinion should consider himself very fortunate and privileged to hold this particular position and who should show a little more respect. It goes with the job !
Finally a Chairman who also promises that he will do whatever to gain success but so far this year has paid only lip service to his customers and swallowed the line fed to him by the two arrogant individuals he trusts with the well being of the club and the business.
I have been a ardent supporter for over sixty years and spent a considerable time within the ‘Game’ Like many other folks who love the Wolves, I ask only for honesty and transparency, Please tell it like it is and cut out the B.S.

There’s no doubt that had we spent more than the club set out to spend on certain positions this summer, that we would be competing at a consistant mid-table position this year (you never know, this may still be the case).
The puchases of Dann (approx 6 million) and Palacios (again approx 6 million) would have really strengthened areas of the team that still require strngthening.
I have never been one to advocate senseless spending for spending sake, but these signings would have made a big difference. Furthermore, given that we will still need to strengthen in these positions next season, (providing we stay up), I can’t think of too many better players that we could purchase in those two positions for a better price.
Jez’s explanation for the restrained transfer activity this summer came as a surpise also. I was under the impression that the stadium budget was separate to the budget we have for players, however, Jez today stated that fans need to understand that ”given all the things we are trying to do off the pitch, that there has to be a balance.”

We spent £8m on O’Hara and Johnson according to JM and obviously MM still needs 2 defenders and the midfield strengthened. Perhaps JM has got his balance sheets mixed up and the ground improvements have taken priority. There was a lot of business done over this transfer window and many teams have become much stronger for it. Lets hope that we can repeat last season and take the 12 points from the top teams again.

For all those who say we managed to keep our best players should be crystal clear about one thing”NO CLUB IN THE WORLD PUT IN A BID FOR ANY PLAYER OF OURS!!”
Doyle as been left out of the Irelands 11 for “LONG”.
Most of the posts on here are fully justified to ask why we did not get a “striker, midfielder and a left back!”
If there is a “numpty” on this forum who thinks “doyle” will give us 13 premiership goals then they need to go and support another team with “SIR.BIlly qui….et”
SEB is currently injured and if “FLETCHER” was to go down the injury road we would be in a little pickle.
We certainly require a midfielder who can retain possesion and spray the ball around to the likes of Jarvo Hunt etc,it is very clear “MOXEY” wanted “MILIJIAS” out so the chances of him getting into the team at any stage look remote especially when “MM” picks “FOLEY”!
The left back position I am little less concerned as I think “WARDS” confidence is spirrallying to new heights, with him also being in the ireland squad this will only improve his confidence and quality of play.
“MOXEY” is not the “messiah” everyone thinks he is far from it,he is obviously in pole position but I am sensible to know that their are better men out there who would bring the club more security and growth on the pitch and off.

I very much doubt it, don’t forget the 16 players that have left;

One must also not forget what “JOHNSON” said when asked about signings “Yes we are most likely to bring in a player or TWO!”
He was obviously advised prior to signing that we would be strenghtning further!and he would be made captain.
Captain he is but is this the time when are team spirit will be tested when we endure a poor spell? When “johnson” will first start thinking “was I sold a dummy” then he will start to think aloud!
Then his thinking aloud will spread like fire around the very foundations we beleive to be “SOLID” one must not also forget Johnson said” He is a winner like “MM” and will not refrain from the odd argument if he thought it was required!…Maybe the day is not far when “MM” and “JOHNSON” will have an argument I for one know it will only a matter of time.

wanderer in eire – Wow, thats allot of negativity based on things that havent even happened yet.
Doyle scored more than 13 goals in the prem on 2 occasions before he came to wolves when he was played in a 442 formation. I have a feeling that he will proove you wrong this season if we continue in our 442 formation. Either way, he has proved he can score in this league before, so writing him off is very foolish.
I will leave you to continue you miserable life where you can worry over potential injuries and possible poor results, and im sure the rest of us will enjoy the good times, because if your not a top 6 club, they are probably going to be few and far between.

111.Derek Parkin! Now there was a left back! And then there was Bobby Thomson!! Reminiscences of culture.Never mind , we still have George……….

Errr…. we appear to be putting an awful lot of faith in players who struggled to cope last season. I do not think the addition of Johnson alone will turn this team into a mid table team. Another long hard struggle – down to the last couple of games again I fear. Very little strength in depth – McCarthy was rightly praised for his defensive substitutions on Saturday but, had Villa scored, who was going to come off the bench and rescue a point?

Ive come to the conclusion that Morgan and Moxey are just a pair of chancers,I saw Morgans face on survival Sunday just before Hunt scored and he thought they had blown it big time, they new our defence was week in the August transfer window and they failed to recruit any quality defenders. This year we have recruited Johnson but if he gets injured its back to the same defence that nearly sent us down.So dont be suprised if we are in a relegation battle again come May.

161…mmmm….salaries for managers, coaches, reserves, tea lady, admin, maintenance, the academy, machinery for cutting the grass, utility bills, liner, match balls…do I need to go on. Wolverhampton Wanderers is a football club not just a football team. Wake up and realise there is a lot more to running a club, at any level, than the 90 minutes you watch.

154 Total agreement…….
I understand people saying not to bankrupt the club…. neither do I
Totally agree…. yes we are a better unit than last season…….
but to bring in one or two players, especially Dann who has been RJ’s defensive partner for 2 yrs and know each other so well. Lets face it Brum went down cus they couldn’t score, they had a damn good defence for a majority of the time. I’m gobsmacked that our board and manager can not see that!!!!!!!!!
We have had one of the worst defensive records in the last 2 seasons….
2 + 2 = ?????????
But most Wolves fans who go and support (home and away) and follow from all around the world could see…. how cum they can’t!!!!!!!!
Blackburn have got a great centre back at an amazing price, especially as he is in the young and hungry mould………
Is someone trying to tell me we could not afford him…… I really think he would have made our back 4 so strong.
Glad there is no league games this weekend, still feel really let down….

What a load of plonkers you are !!
Chance missed to give this club a real boost.
when so many people say the likes of ward,Henry,Berra are not good enough and no matter who the other eight in the team are sooner or later gunna course us problems,
i for 1 cant see Ohara,Johnson going all season without injuries.suspensions !! so then what ?
1 of the bottom 5 !! happy clappers where do get top ten from ? you live in cloud cookoo land,
Chance missed at villa, we should have put on hamil, kightly and gone for it, villa had run out of ideas, take off jarvis and either fletch or doyle, both were having a bad game, put hunt in to midfield to booster that and play 4,3,3
we know mm likes to play certan players ova others, i dont think im to wrong in saying thats why a certan left back didnt want to stay,

I fully understand the points you make and I am in no way advocating reckless and profligate spending on acquisitions or salaries. What I object to is the silly and obvious Bullshit from people who should know better. I and many others would appreciate them treating us with a modicum of intelligence.
There would be far less disappointment amongst fans and a better understanding of the policy and difficulties if they would simply tell it like it is.
As for the managers ‘Numpty’ comments, I take nothing back in my criticism of him. At this time the Arsenal manager is having to withstand far more attention and criticism, I have not read of him ‘Calling’ anyone. Perhaps that is the difference between real Class and the inability to handle the heat in the kitchen, for which he is well paid to cope with.

WOLFHED you have just proved what a “NUMPTY” you are along with a handful of others.
None of my comments are negative!
I am not the only being who just does not look at yesterday or today but also considers tommorow.
We have to be prepared for what may be around the corner.Have the neccessary steps taken.
Creating a strategy and a goal in advance is not negative. It is apparent that you sit at home 24hr doing nothing unless something occurs than your looking for a cure. The simple thing is to “PREVENT” rather than “CURE”.
Reference your case about “DOYLE” he is a good player no doubt,in relation to his goals tally lets just stick with the ratio of goals scored for wolves in the 2 seasons played!”STILL NOT REACHED 13″.
you see “WOLFHED” this is the problem “NUMPTIES” like your good self going around on forums like this having nothing constructive to say you call others “NEGATIVE”.Only because I and the majority on here are in someway or another writing on a similar note to me..Yet you singled me out.I have more positive in my little toe!
You would rather listen to MOXEY saying how he wont be forced into panic buying!Yet no one as asked him to panic buy!Yet if one looks at the purchases we have made since our arrival in the prem most of them have not played and have moved on !!! All for not “PANIC BUYING”Its over two years majority of the fans have been calling for a centre half and a left back!! So after two seasons we get “JOHNSON” and the improvement is immediate!!
So in no way have I ever been “NEGATIVE” this is just a cheap shot by a “NUMPTY”.
Everything we do in life in most cases the future is considered!

wanderer in eire – How deluded can you get. You seriously dont think your comments were negative? How is declaring Doyle has no chance of scoring 13 goals and anyone that disagrees with you is a numpty and should go support another club constructive?
Im guessing your upset because I actually have an oppinion that differs from your own. You complain that I used this forum to air my oppinion, but guess what, Thats exactly what this forum is for. Get over yourself, if I feel i can add my oppinion to subjects on these articles, I will, no matter who it is in reply to. Ive replied to many peoples comments before now.
Im not one for resorting to petty name calling as im not a 10 year old, so I will just leave it there. You can continue to have a cry about anyone that disagress with you while I will enjoy our 3 successive years in the prem.
