Danny Wilson expects Walsall to lose

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson today taunted Walsall and warned them – ‘expect to lose.’

The Saddlers go to Bramall Lane tonight knowing a win would lift them above the Blades, but Wilson has already written the visitors off.

United have won both of their opening League One games 2-0, against Oldham and Brentford, after relegation from the Championship last season.

And Wilson, who replaced Micky Adams in the summer, insisted there is no excuse not to continue their hot streak against the Saddlers.

He said: “I did expect to win on Saturday and I expect us to win tonight.

“I am not being conceited and taking anything away from Walsall, but we have to make sure that we have got a certain mindset in this division at home.

“We have to make sure that we are really strong at home, we earn a reputation because of that and I expect us to win.

“Every team has to have a successful home record, no matter what league you are in, so it is important you win the majority of your home games if you are going to be in with a chance of promotion.”

Walsall boss Dean Smith added: “Sheffield United are a big club, but they are a League One football team who are no different to us.

“These clubs are certainly not ones which should scare our players.”

“Bigger clubs have tried”……as have smaller clubs. And most have succeeded

Mmmmm – bit of a hatchet job here. Not sure the selective quote quite gets across Wilson’s view

    From Sheffield Star…

“And Wilson is guarding against complacency ahead of the meeting and is calling on the team to maintain their positive approach to end Walsall’s unbeaten start to the season.

“Everyone expects us to win handsomely against Walsall but if we go into the arena with that type of attitude we will have a problem,” said Wilson. “We have to work hard and earn the right to play.”

This is pure propoganda. Danny Wilson is very aware how good Walsall are and intends to show them every respect. Why are stories like this printed?

There is no way Danny said this. Visit http://www.sufc.co.uk to see what he really said. Think somebody maybe liable for what they have wrote. If you want to gain promotion then the expection is you should win your home games. Never has Danny belittled Walsall in fact if you visit the above site he has done the opposite. Get your facts straight. Very Sloppy Journalism

Hmmm. A cheap and somewhat smaller version of Leeds United then. Must be something in the Yorkshire air. Hopefully their stay with the peasants will be as long and as funny.
You’re here because you deserve to be.

I think you boys are being led by the nose by your local rag. I think you will find that Wilsons comments have been taken out of context.
