Latest transfer rumours – July 29
Friday 29th July 2011, 8:40AM BST.
Expressandstar.com bring you the latest transfer gossip on Wolves, Albion, Villa, Birmingham and Walsall.
We have scoured the back pages and the internet to bring you the latest gossip.
We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.
WOLVES
All the action is around the exit door at Molineux with goalkeeper Carl Ikeme set to join Middlesbrough on loan as cover for the injured Jason Steele, who is out for three months with a broken arm.
And Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is planning a £1m raid for defender Richard Stearman.
ALBION
Roy Hodgson will fight Wigan and Stoke for the signature of highly-rated Motherwell winger Jamie Murphy, who could be allowed to leave for around £1m.
Albion’s teenage defender Donervon Daniels has also attracted the attentions of Manchester City and Manchester United, after being linked with Celtic yesterday.
ALBION/BLUES
Boaz Myhill could be used as bait as Albion attempt to sign Blues goalkeeper Ben Foster. Both could be switching clubs on loan for the new season.
Meanwhile, Albion are also set to sign Blues defender Liam Ridgewell on a three-year-deal. The 27-year-old will cost £3m.
BLUES
Chris Hughton has been rebuffed in his attempts to sign Newcastle striker Nile Ranger on loan.
Blues are also struggling to offload Nikola Zigic, despite his agent claiming interest from a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Everton, Wigan and Sunderland.
Meanwhile, Fulham have joined the race to sign striker Cameron Jerome. A £6m fee had been agreed with Stoke, but personal terms couldn’t be agreed.
VILLA
We seem to be saying it every day, but the deal for Charles N’Zogbia is almost done. It’s said that he will have a medical with the club today to pave the way for the £9.5m deal to be completed next week.
And Alex McLeish would also like to sign last year’s player of the season, Scott Parker from West Ham, but has admitted that he may have to sell before he can put in a bid.
WALSALL
Shrewsbury Town have signed former Walsall midfielder Matt Richards on a two-year contract.
