We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.
ALBION
Roy Hodgson is hoping to land a double deal over the weekend – for Reading striker Shane Long and Birmingham City goalkeeper Ben Foster. The Royals are reportedly prepared to drop their asking price for the Irish international, while a loan deal could be done for Foster.
VILLA
Wigan chairman Dave Whelen is resigned to losing Aston Villa target Charles N’Zogbia, but claims that other clubs are also “desperate” to sign the winger – who is valued at £10m.
Villa boss Alex McLeish has also been linked with another Tottenham full-back – this time Vedran Corluka, who is becoming unsettled by the transfer rumours around his best friend, Luka Modric.
WOLVES
Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric is hopeful that his club can bring Wolves defender Danny Batth back to Hillsborough on loan next season.
BLUES
Chris Hughton is considering making a bid to take Nile Ranger to St. Andrews, having previous been his manager whilst at Newcastle.
WALSALL
Nothing to report today.
Meanwhile, new Celtic signing Victor Wanyama has claimed that Aston Villa were interested in signing him – but he chose to move to Parkhead in search of silverware.
