Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Greg Mills unlikely to sign for Harriers

Free agent Greg Mills is unlikely to sign a contract at Kidderminster Harriers despite impressing in a trial period at Aggborough.
The former Derby County winger is looking for a club after being released by the Rams and has spent pre-season with Harriers, scoring in their friendly at Bishops Cleeve last week.
Mills did impress manager Steve Burr and there was loose talk about a contract, with the player given time to go away and think about his future.
The 20-year-old is keen to stay in the full-time game but Burr could not guarantee him first-team football, which could have been a stumbling block in the move.
Also, Mills was the star of the show when he first went on loan at AFC Telford last season and they have had an offer on the table all summer.
And the pacy wide man was seen at Telford’s friendly against Leicester on Tuesday night, where it’s believed he held talks with Bucks boss Andy Sinton after the game.
Sinton is now away from the club for a few days but left Mills to ponder whether a move to the part-time club, who play in the same league, is the way forward for him.
Back at Aggborough, Burr is still pondering on who to make Harriers’ new captain, with the new Blue Square Premier season three weeks away.
The armband has been passed around in pre-season, with previous skipper Keith Briggs signing for Fleetwood in the summer, and the manager believes he has a number of contenders for the role.
He said: “It’s something that’s very much up for grabs, so we’ll see how the players handle themselves between now and the start of the season.
“I am very much open minded on it. We’ll have a look as pre-season goes on but it is a nice position to be in, to have so many options.
“We’ll be able to take our time and settle on a captain and vice-captain but, naturally, you are looking for every one of the lads to perform and enjoy their football here.”
