Double Hednesford award for No 1
Tuesday 10th May 2011, 8:00AM BST.
Hednesford goalkeeper Dan Crane was recognised for his outstanding season with the Pitmen after picking up two gongs at the club’s end of season awards.
Crane was named as manager Rob Smith’s Player of the Season and also picked up the Hednesford Supporters Association Player of the Season award.
Striker Kyle Patterson won the Players’ Player of The Season award, while fellow frontman Danny Quinn won Goal of the Season for his brilliant scissor-kick against Truro City in January.
Left-back Darren Campion collected the Supporters’ Player of The Year prize, while the club also commended the off-the-pitch efforts of club staff for their ongoing work.
And Hednesford boss Smith paid tribute to everyone at the club after a season in which they won the Red Insure Cup but suffered the heartbreak of a penalty shoot-out defeat in the final of the Zamaretto League Premier Division play-offs.
He said: “Despite the play-off defeat we know that the club has made a sizeable step forward this season, both on and off the pitch.”
“It was good to see the team get together as a squad but it was also important to merit the people behind the scenes who have put in so much hard work this season.”
The club recognised the work of club secretary Terry McMahon. Cath McMahon, Paula Smith, Dorinda Gibbons, Sam Tudor and Michelle Plumb were all rewarded for their work in hospitality, catering, stewarding and office positions.
Jon Hawkins was voted Supporters Association Supporter of The Year for his sterling work in producing highlights of matches, while Jas Singh received the Clubman of The Year award for his work in the commercial department.
