Changes on final day for Harriers

Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr will make changes for the final game of the season at home to Histon after his side missed the play-offs.

Harriers’ dream of promotion to the Football League ended with defeat at Rushden & Diamonds on Monday, but they are still playing for sixth place on the last day as both York and Darlington can overtake them.

Relegated Histon have nothing at all to fight for, as they cannot climb off the bottom of the table even with a win tomorrow.

With that in mind, boss Burr will rotate his squad with one change enforced upon him, as midfielder Jack Byrne is suspended for tomorrow and the first four games of next season for his second straight red card of the campaign on Monday.

On-loan striker Sean Canham has also returned to Hereford, but Jamille Matt is available after he was an unused substitute against Rushden.

Other changes could be afoot, as Burr gives a rest to the players who have been playing through the pain barrier for the team in recent weeks.

He said: “Tomorrow we will perhaps look at changing things around a little bit to give the lads a run out that we need to have a look at.

“It’s not like we are doing a disservice to anyone else, we have got a squad of players here that we need to use one or two of tomorrow.

“To be honest, some of the lads have been on their last legs, with a small squad it really tests you.”

Despite the new-look line-up, Burr insists his side will go out all out to win their last game of the season.

Home has been a happy place for Harriers this year with one defeat in their last 10 games as hosts, with swelling crowds creating a ‘Fortress Aggborough’ atmosphere.

And Burr wants to give the supporters one last thing to cheer about tomorrow night.

He said: “We want to send the fans home with a win, they have been fantastic and the atmosphere against Fleetwood last Friday night was unbelievable.”

Tomorrow’s game at Aggborough kicks off at 5:15pm.
