Lee Morris returns for Harriers clash
Friday 22nd April 2011, 8:45AM BST.
Kidderminster Harriers striker Lee Morris has been passed fit to return for the all-important Blue Square Premier promotion clash against Fleetwood.
The former £3million man has recovered from a calf injury to rejoin the squad for tonight’s game at Aggborough, which will be televised live on Premier Sports from 7:45pm.
Morris has missed the last three games but came through training yesterday, although on-loan utility man Matthew Lowe is expected to miss out again with an ankle injury.
The stakes are high tonight as Harriers look to breathe life into their flagging promotion challenge at Fleetwood’s expense, who are four points ahead of their hosts in the last play-off place.
Harriers’ chances of a top five finish have been taken out of their own hands after their 15-game unbeaten streak ended against Darlington on Tuesday night, leaving them seventh in the table.
Boss Steve Burr admitted after the game that his players may have “run out of steam” but the manager is still refusing to take that as an excuse, calling for another big effort between now and the end of the season.
Three games in eight days will see out the campaign with a trip to Rushden & Diamonds next up on Monday, before Histon come to Aggborough next Saturday.
And Burr has called for a final flurry as they fight against the odds.
He said: “There’s nine points left to play for and we will be doing our best to make sure we get into the play-offs. We aren’t going to give it up without a fight.
“While there’s still a chance, you keep going. Unfortunately we didn’t win our game in hand the other night and that makes the task a bit harder.
“But we are facing Fleetwood now and have a chance to take some points off them.”
