Villa No 2 is backing Gerard Houllier
Monday 28th March 2011, 11:11AM BST.
Villa assistant boss Gary McAllister has backed Gerard Houllier’s managerial experience to get the club out of relegation trouble.
The claret and blues are a point above the Premier League drop zone and face a difficult away trip to Everton on Saturday but McAllister claimed that – with the players they have at their disposal – the expects them to pull clear.
He said: “Gerard is a very experienced manager and has been in all of the football situations you can imagine. He will come back refreshed and ready to go.
“Gerard and I have said all along that there is an abundance of quality here but I also feel that we have got some good characters in the side.
“We have got people who are going to step up to the mark and produce the levels of desire and hunger to get the results we need.
“It goes without saying that we want to get the results early to alleviate pressure towards the end.
“If we could get a run of three victories we’d take that but if that is not the case we know that we have got to get into the games and get on that little run again.”
