Kidderminster Harriers were today facing up to the likelihood their season will take another turn for the worse with the club set to file for administration.

Harriers need to raise £150,000 by the end of the day that avoid having to apply for a Company Voluntary Arrangement, ahead of a winding-up order over an unpaid tax bill of £16,000 on February 23.

Unless a saviour is found, board members will meet with financial and legal experts tomorrow to discuss their next move, which will almost certainly be administration and a 10-point penalty from the league.

Back at Aggborough, Harriers' players and management were trying to put it to the back of their minds, with assistant boss Gary Whild taking training today as manager Steve Burr is away coaching with the England C squad.

Most of the staff have yet to be paid their full wages for January and, having already had five points scrubbed from their total for financial irregularities last month, could see their season disintegrate in the next 24 hours.

The players have managed to mount a play-off challenge despite the turmoil off the field, but Whild admits it's starting to get to them.

He said: "From a football point of view, it's hit home to the lads in the last few days. Like anybody, they are doing a job and expect to be paid for it and that's really the first time it has happened.

"When that happens, the reality hits home and it's difficult. It's tough, it would be wrong for me to say that it's not. Like everybody else, we are just waiting to see what happens.

"But the players here now are the right type of people, we did our homework on that when we brought them in, so whatever comes up against us we will be right to perform."
