As Liverpool prepare for life without Fernando Torres, the men from Anfield are ready to bid £18m for Villa’s Ashley Young.

Meanwhile Liverpool have agreed a fee of £500,000 for Stephen Warnock.

Villa are monitoring the Charlie Adam situation.

Blackburn defender Christopher Samba is on Gerard Houllier’s hit-list.

Villa are closing in on a loan deal for United States midfielder Michael Bradley from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Stephen Ireland is joining Newcastle on loan for the rest of the season.

ALBION

Albion’s chances of signing Jeffrey Bruma from Chelsea are ‘very slim’ according to his agent.

Strikers on the Albion hit-list include Amuari from Juventus, Chori Dominguez from Valencia and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Hamburg.

Roman Bednar may be allowed to go to Bristol City on loan.

BLUES

Birmingham City will scramble today to close a deal for Rubin Kazan and former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins.
