Wolves Reserves 0 Albion Reserves 2

Albion completed a second-string double over Black Country neighbours Wolves as Roman Bednar and a Jody Craddock own goal settled the game at AFC Telford.
Bednar’s early penalty gave the Baggies the lead and Craddock’s miscued header early in the second-half made sure of the victory for Albion, who won the reverse Premier Reserve League South fixture at the Hawthorns 1-0 in November.
George Elokobi made his return from suspension for Wolves last night, David Edwards was their most impressive performer on his comeback from a hamstring problem and Craddock and Steven Mouyokolo stepped up their comebacks from injury.
The Molineux men also handed a trial to former Bristol City goalkeeper Adriano Basso in the New Bucks Head fixture, while highly-rated winger Zeli Ismail made a first reserves start.
The Baggies handed match practice to senior men Nicky Shorey, Gianni Zuiverloon, Roman Bednar and Marc-Antoine Fortune.
But the match was a forgettable affair with the only fireworks provided by fans, who set off a smoke canister in the main stand midway through the second-half.
Albion made the dream start when they went ahead from the penalty spot in the third minute. Bednar was clattered by Mouyokolo just inside the area and Bednar blasted the resulting penalty into the roof of the net.
The Baggies should have doubled their lead on 10 minutes after Sam Mantom’s corner was helped back into the danger zone by Bednar, but Fortune twice had shots blocked at the near post by Wolves’ Matt Doherty.
Bednar then fired just wide before Albion went close again when Basso made a flying save to keep out Saido Berahino’s fierce long-range shot, before Mouyokolo sprawled to block first from Bednar and then from Kemar Roofe.
Edwards later lobbed a shot wide before play switched to the other end where Berahino beat Doherty and crossed for Bednar, whose shot was blocked on the line by Elokobi.
Albion doubled their lead in bizarre fashion on nine minutes after the break, when Roofe’s cross from the right was headed into his own net by Craddock from 10 yards out.
