Craig Lindfield ready for Harriers

Kidderminster Harriers new-boy Craig Lindfield is expecting some of the most competitive football of his career after coming to Aggborough on a month’s loan.

The Accrington Stanley striker, along with Birmingham midfielder Mitch McPike, came to Harriers in a beat-the-deadline double swoop on Friday.

Both were denied a debut at Barrow on Saturday after the Blue Square Premier game was called off, with the pitch at Holker Street completely frozen.

Harriers were today hopeful that their next match, at home to York tomorrow night, will go ahead but the club are anxiously waiting to see if the weather gets any worse tonight.

Lindfield will be hoping to make his debut sooner rather than later and the 22-year-old brings with him a good pedigree, winning the FA Youth cup with Liverpool in 2007 and spending 13 years on the books at Anfield.

But the goals have dried up for the forward since he left the Reds last summer for Accrington, with manager John Coleman eager to get him match-fit after seven games without a goal this season.

And Lindfield believes Aggborough could be the launchpad to get his career back on track.

He said: “I need to get some games under my belt, the manager there has told me how competitive this division is and to not be fooled by the fact I’m dropping a league.

“It’s obviously a good standard of football and I respect that. Every player should be striving to play in a competitive environment.

“I played two years in the reserves at Liverpool after coming through and that’s probably one of the main reasons why I left in the end – it felt like I was playing a friendly every four weeks.

“I need to prove to myself that I can come here, score a few goals and prove to the gaffer at Accrington that I should be in his plans.”

“It would be great to come and help Kidderminster consolidate their excellent position in the table as well.”
