16:55: A thoroughly miserable afternoon for Wolves and Albion in the Premier League today, after both were beaten in games that they could have really done with winning.

Wolves never really recovered from the shock of yet another early goal at Blackpool, who went two up before half-time, with Mick McCarthy's men pulling one back but failing to get the equaliser.

Albion once again were the victims against their bogey team Stoke, who ran out 3-0 winners in a game that did not reflect the scoreline, especially with two contentious penalties.

Hats off to Birmingham after they piled on the misery for champions Chelsea at St Andrew's, winning a one-goal game in the most famous result Blues have ever had in the Premier League.

And there was even a win for Walsall, who eased the pressure on manager Chris Hutchings with a home win over Carlisle, but three points was not enough to lift them off the foot of League One.

Villa, who could have new signing Robert Pires in their ranks, go to Blackburn tomorrow in the 1:30pm Premier League kick-off.

16:32: Manchester United look to have wrapped up a win without playing very well at all today, after substitute Javier Hernandez gets the second goal against Wigan.

16:08: GOAL! What a breakthrough for Walsall as they take the lead after going behind against Carlisle, Matt Richards' second goal of the game for the Saddlers.

16:07: Newcastle have pulled a quickfire goal back but it's still 3-1 to Bolton, England striker Andy Carroll with the goal.

15:46: Manchester United break Wigan's hearts by breaking the deadlock - against the run of play - in first-half stoppage time, Ji-Sung Park's cross headed in by one of the smallest men on the pitch in left-back Patrice Evra.

15:44: GOAL! It's all going horribly wrong for Wolves as they go 2-0 down to Blackpool before half-time, a scrappy goal eventually sees former Villa striker Marlon Harewood turn in the second.

14:45: The early game in the Premier League is one of the best North London derbies to date, as Tottenham turn the game on it's head to overturn a two goal lead and beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were cruising through strikes from Samir Nasri and Marouane Chamakh inside 27 minutes.

But goals from Gareth Bale, a Rafael van der Vaart penalty and an 85th minute winner from Younes Kaboul did it for Spurs.

Albion are looking to arrest their mini-slide by getting back to winning ways in front of their home fans at the Hawthorns, but Stoke are the Baggies' bogey team and have an excellent record against their hosts.

Birmingham face the hardest task of the lot today, or do they? Chelsea come to St Andrew's on the back of that shock 3-0 defeat against Sunderland, will Blues face a backlash from the champions or will they pile on the misery?

Walsall welcome play-off chasing Carlisle to the Banks's Stadium desperate to pick up points that could lift them off the bottom of League One, the heat is on for manager Chris Hutchings in this League One clash.
