Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Steve Wynn ruled out of Rangers job
Wednesday 6th October 2010, 8:00AM BST.
Stafford Rangers assistant boss Steve Wynn has ruled himself out of becoming the next permanent manager at Marston Road.
And the club’s most senior player, 34-year-old former Walsall midfielder Darren Wrack, will not be applying for the job either.
Wynn is effectively in caretaker charge after Chris Brindley quit yesterday and is expected to take training tomorrow night, with last night’s session cancelled.
Upstairs in the boardroom at Marston Road, the powers-that-be will be discussing who will discussing Brindley’s replacement, while downstairs on the pitch the shell-shocked players will be regrouping under the supervision of the Rangers No 2.
But Wynn insists that a passing of the torch, the circumstances in which Brindley took charge after Steve Bull left in December 2008, is out of the question.
He said: “I would never take over as manager, not in a million years. But, if they can’t get anybody in before the next game at Nuneaton a week on Saturday, I will take the team.
“I will do whatever is needed until a new manager is brought in, out of respect to Chris, then I will shake hands with the people at the club and take it from there.
“There’s a training session tomorrow night and I am not thinking any further ahead.”
Wrack has only been at the club for a month after joining on non-contract forms and is mapping out his future in the game, with his time as a full-time professional seemingly over.
Coaching and management is an ambition for the veteran, although he will not be throwing his hat into the ring this time.
He said: “I won’t be applying for the job, out of respect to Chris, I want to get involved in management but this is hardly the right time.
“If Steve wants me to help out coaching as a senior player, I am happy to do that, but Chris is a mate and I wouldn’t want to step into his shoes.”
