Ollie Thorne to keep on defying odds
Thursday 30th September 2010, 8:45AM BST.
Kidderminster Harriers defender Ollie Thorne wants to continue defying the odds as the team prepare to travel to big-spending Crawley on Saturday.
Thorne has been a revelation at the back since signing on non-contract forms from Newport County last month and has already been handed a deal until the end of the season, after just six games for the club.
The 20-year-old had not tasted defeat as a Harriers player until Tuesday’s 2-0 reverse at Bath City and will be looking to get back on track in Saturday’s Blue Square Premier clash.
With his future secured, until the season’s end at least, before the midweek trip, Thorne can now fully concentrate on his football and the on-going challenge of trying to keep veteran defender Mark Albrighton out of the team.
Crawley have some firepower after splashing the cash in the summer, but Thorne will not show too much respect to their illustrious opponents.
He said: “We don’t fear anyone in this League.
“They have got a really good team at Crawley but, when it comes down it, it’s 11 against 11 on the pitch and we are more than a match for any team.”
