Kumi Yokoyama’s amazing goal

Football is slowly breaking down some of the slightly more sexist barriers that have been part of the game.

Supporters have long held the belief that a woman’s place is not on the pitch – as an linesman, as a referee and certainly not as a player.

Well today we can bring you something that might just change your minds.

Step forward 16-year-old Kumi Yokoyama.

Our video shows the youngster scoring for Japan at the Under 17 Women’s World Cup.

OK, the quality of the defending might not be out of the top drawer but if it had been scored by the likes of Messi, Kaka etc then men around the world would be drooling.

The future of football, Sepp Blatter has claimed, is female and this might suggest the Fifa boss has a point.
