Dudley Town have announced the shock signing of former Albion favourite Richard Sneekes and his son Giorgio.

Manager teve Hinks has made his move after a poor start to the season left them fourth bottom in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division.

A 3-1 defeat at home to Lye Town on Saturday compounded their woes and Hinks hopes Sneekes and his son will inspire his young squad.

He saidL "It's been a difficult start to the season for us, especially considering we lost all but one player during pre-season.

"Richard's experience will be invaluable to the development of the young squad we have at Dudley.

"It's a raw squad with a lot of talent but we just haven't been able to get any breaks recently and Richard's influence will set us on our way to overcome this problem."

Sneekes spent five years at the Hawthorns, making 253 appearances, and also had a spells, at Bolton Hull and hometown club Ajax.

The 41-year-old is no stranger to non-league after a brief spell at Hinckley United during 2007/2008 and is currently on the coaching staff, along with Hinks, of Tamworth's youth academy.

Sneekes' son Giorgio comes to the club from Tamworth's academy, where he trains with Hinks and academy manager Dale Belford during the week.

The Robins have been busy in the transfer market this week, having signed highly rated former Kettering and Halesowen forward Nathaniel Waite along with Hoshane Gabbidon, Emmanuel Gueyes and Sutton Coldfield Town's young striker Sam Giles.
