Carling Cup fourth round draw

Wolves have been drawn away at Manchester United in the Carling Cup for the second successive season.

The two met in the third round of last season’s competition at Old Trafford, with United 1-0 winners, and will renew acquaintances this season in the last 16.

Albion have been handed a kinder draw but go away from home to face Championship club Leicester, after their impressive win over Manchester City in the third round.

Villa will also face Championship opposition with a home tie against Burnley, who they beat 5-2 last season at Villa Park when the Clarets were still a Premier League club.

Birmingham have, perhaps, the best draw of all of our teams in the region as they host League One Brentford, but the Bees were the conquerors of Premier League Everton in the last round.

Another runout for ALBIONs fringe players.
Another chance for wolves reserves again. Remember last season when they got find.
Villa should be in the hat again ( Not mine ).
    Birmingham, dicey.

PLEASE can we try and win this game?! Our first team can beat the team Man U will play and then we are in the last 8 with maybe 2 teams that are better than us.

Well Mick, what team will you put out this season?. A team with some PL experience like last season?. That cost Morgan/Moxey to have have ‘Heart Attacks’ when we where up before the ‘BIG WHITE CHIEFS’ or a team of players who play most games in the PL. And will give us a realistic chance of winning it?. At least tell the supporters well in advance as it was a very costly day off work and night watching most of the players who only get on the subs bench or 5mins-15mins here and there. The fine will be much higher than the £25,000 we paid last time, and all the flack our club got off the Media?. Lets go there and give them a game ,we’ve got some good players who could easily shock MU, and sneak a win. ‘HE WHO DARES RODNEY?. UTW

    Jack The Hat.

We all remember last season’s LEAGUE game away at Old Trafford.

Only foolish people think that has any relevance to this year’s Reserve Team Cup.

    Les,
Are you saying (5) Tomwolf is a fool?.
As for me I was just reminding fans of a bit of modern local history. Sorry if I touched a nerve.
    Greasy,
Thanks for the kind words on ” Your say on the match action “.

Nice draw for us and should send us into the next round as we have a good solid squad packed with Internationals raring to go.

Unlucky Wolves was hoping to get you next and show you who the real Black country kings are.

Watched game on the net. Mick’s team selection let us down again, third time this season he has botched it. Guediora is ten times better than Edwards and should have been in the starting eleven – Edwards contributed nothing to the game. Hope Guediora is not too badly injured. Elokobi is also better than Ward, once Ward was subbed with Elokobi then Villa went quiet down the flank. We deserved to get something out of that game, another last minute goal cost us. Mick you have the players, use them mate!!! We desperately need Zubar, Hunt, Kightly and Moyokolo to get fit as soon as possible. We lack quality. Our passing is too slow and the first touch on some of the current players is poor. Jones had an ordinary game too. It’s gonna be a long tough season I think.

    db,
You are on the wrong site with your post, unless you want to add ” What a brilliant team
    ALBION are”.

JACK the HAT, It was the Premier league game at Old Trafford that Wolves got fined for last year, not the Carling Cup game, we ran out a team of reserves against their reserves and lost 1-0, as opposed to MM putting the reserves out against United’s first team, and losing 3-0, but it was a good £25,000 spent, because the following results were good and we stayed up!
Good result for Baggies at the weekend tho’ lets keep our four Midland clubs in the Premiership!
