Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

West Brom waiting on star Graham Dorrans
Friday 10th September 2010, 11:05AM BST.
Star playmaker Graham Dorrans is a serious doubt for Albion tomorrow because of a domestic upset.
The Scottish international, who withdrew from Scotland’s Euro qualifier at Hampden in midweek for the same reasons, will leave a decision over whether or not he faces Spurs at The Hawthorns until as late as possible.
Manager Roberto Di Matteo is refusing to go into details about Dorran’s difficulties but it is understood to be entirely family related.
But he does acknowledge that, with the player having missed training both with Scotland and Albion to attend to the problem, there are serious doubts about his readiness, mentally and physically, to face Harry Redknapp’s outfit.
“Graham withdrew from the Scotland squad due to personal issues, so we’ll have to see how he is,” said Di Matteo.
“It’s a personal matter to Graham and I am not going to say any more.”
It could have serious implications for the creative arm of Albion’s midfield force with James Morrison beginning his three-match ban for his Anfield red card.
But Gabriel Tamas, Roman Bednar and Peter Odemwingie have reported back fit and well from midweek international duty while Jerome Thomas has used the fortnight gap in action to confirm his availability after missing the 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.
This to face a Spurs side without Michael Dawson and Jermain Defoe. The striker was today ruled out for three months following ankle surgery.
“We want to be strong at home and make life difficult for teams,” admitted Di Matteo.
