Walsall sign David Davis from Wolves

Walsall have signed Wolves starlet David Davis in an emergency loan deal.

The Saddlers have bolstered their midfield by signing the 19-year-old, who is yet to make a first-team appearance at Molineux, for a month.

Manager Chris Hutchings – who has also handed a trial to former Birmingham midfielder Bryan Hughes – has sealed the deal subject to Premier League clearance.

Hutchings said: “David is an energetic midfielder with bags of potential and we’re grateful to Wolves boss Mick McCarthy for allowing him to join us on loan.”

The Smethwick-born midfielder, who can also play at right-back, played for the Saddlers’ youth team before joining Wolves.

Davis also had a loan spell under Steve Staunton at Darlington last season, making six appearances as the Quakers dropped out of the Football League.

His older brother Dion Scott played for Walsall, Kidderminster and Mansfield.

The teenager could be in the squad for Walsall’s League One trip to Rochdale on Saturday, with the Saddlers without Richard Taundry and Steve Jones.

Taundry is out for a month with a knee injury, while Jones is at least another week away after spraining his ankle.

Alex Nicholls completes the final game of his three-match ban, after his straight red card in the 1-0 defeat at Brighton.
