Date set for Stephen Hunt’s debut
Tuesday 7th September 2010, 11:30AM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is expecting £3million winger Stephen Hunt to be fit to face West Ham on October 16.
Summer signing Hunt started running on the day of Wolves’ 1-1 draw against Newcastle 10 days ago, as he continues his rehabilitation from a foot injury.
October was always the planned month for Hunt’s Wolves debut, but McCarthy believes the timescale for his recovery has become clearer.
Wolves have Premier League games at Fulham and Tottenham before they return to Molineux to host Villa, then a trip to Wigan on October 2 before the next international break.
That gives Hunt a fortnight to be ready for senior action for the visit of West Ham on the 16th.
McCarthy said: “We’ve got five games coming up including the Carling Cup tie and then we get another break.
“He’s probably looking at being fit sooner rather than later, but if we get him back after that two-week break and if he was fit to start that would be fantastic.
“That’s what we’re probably aiming at. I think he’s still on target to be ready in October.”
McCarthy also dismissed any loan interest from Hunt’s former club Reading in Michael Kightly.
He said: “When he gets fit he’ll go out on loan. There’s no truth in Reading.
“I’ve no doubt that Reading or any other club would be delighted to have Michael Kightly on loan, but I’ve not spoken to anyone.
“Brian McDermott is a good mate of mine, so the first person he would ring up would be me to ask if there was a chance of anything.”
Wolves’ medium term casualty, Steven Mouyokolo, is closing on a return after returning to full training following thigh and ankle injuries.
McCarthy said: “He’s trained and is fine.
“He just needs to do more training now.”

Its a frightening prospect that we’ve started the season so well, yet we have allot of influential players out with injuries. I had no doubt that last years team would improve due to their age and newly found prem experience, but now we have some new players that will no doubt improve the team, and i for one am looking forward to seeing a fully fit wolves squad all vying for a place in the starting 11.

All good news coming out of Molineux at the moment. Long may it continue.
The only slight concern is Fletcher.

Excellent news.
Having Hunt fit will bea huge boost and having seen Mouyokolo play i think he’s the perfect replacement for Jody.
Things are finally looking up! Now for Fletch to get over his “Sore Foot”

the molineux injury curse strikes
I know Hunt was already in injured.
But Kites,Mouyokolo,Fletcher and hunt must be the better players in the squad and all unavailable.
Is the physio on over time??
WHy little niggles like fletcher and mouyokolo turn into two months out I just don’t understand are these players not willing to play with a litlle discomfort its ok saying we would rather them be fit for the whole campaign thatn lose them for a couple of games but how long do you keep saying this, until January?
Come on lads toughen up a bit

Given the record of our medical staff,is that Oct 2010,or Oct 2011.

Getting a bit concerned about fletcher is he known to be injury prone,or is this a one off its taking to long to be a sore foot,i think we are being told lies and there is more to it than we are being led to believe, hope he gets well soon.

WASTE OF MONEY!

8. donkeyjaw.
No he’s not injury prone at all, he has played in most of burnleys matches when there.
I think it just a sore foot that is being treated the same way Wayne Rooneys foot would be if the same happend to him. Dont forget he’s a top asset to our club and why would we risk he back too early at the start of season if theres a chance it would be far worse an injury if rushed back ??

CW,
They’ve been watching wolves clogball and decided it’s safer to stay on the injury list.

As for Hunt being good to go for Oct, that will be a massive boost at a crucial time in the season ! get in,
Kites dont rush yourself back mate, you worked hard to get here, now take your time and get 100% fully fit before going into any first team action.

beacon wolf, given the record of our medical staff? last season most of our squad out performed and out muscled the so called premier hard men and why? precisely because of our medical staff and thier efforts.

Jarvo on the left Hunt on the right. I can’t think of too many teams that wouldnt take that. Going to be plenty of service for the front men

Let’s hope he doesn’t get a bruised foot when he plays

Our lads have certainly had a lot of feet and ankle injuries haven’t they? Well we all know Fletch was on the end of a typical Stoke tackle – poor and mistimed! However, dont think we should rush him back, with SEB (thankfully) and Doyle doing so well although be nice for Doyler to find the net. Craven Cottage is a very hard place to play, they can beat the best there, a bit like Blackburn. Be happy with another drawer.

When Hunt is fit and we have him and Jarvo on the wings running at full-backs and then kites coming on with 25 mins to go, I would not want to be a full-back playing against Wolves! The long-term team will be:
Hahnemann
Zubar
Berra
Mouyokolo
Van Damme
Jarvis
Henry (c)
Jones
Hunt
Doyle
Fletcher
A strong bench in:
Ebanks Blake
Kightly
Foley
Hennessey
Edwards
Craddock etc

5 points from the next 3 Premier League games would be an excellent return.

Sot w,
It’s no good Mick telling his players to bring shinpads to training when they’re
studing one anothers ankles and feet, now is it?.
I stated in an earlier post, as soon as wolves receive what they are dishing out,you lot would start Whinging. I’m right again. JtH.

Do you watch the Wolves games? In the Newcastle game the only player to get injured was a Wolves player. Wolves had the best stats in the premier league for tackling. I saw the tackle that got the baggies player sent off two footed lunge against Liverpool, or maybe you missed that one. It’s part of the game tackling hard but fair. You never saw Robinson play then? Say no more!
