Matt Richards backs Saddlers’ defence
Thursday 2nd September 2010, 11:27AM BST.
Matt Richards today backed Walsall’s under-fire defence to recover from their shoddy start to the season.
The Saddlers are yet to keep a clean sheet this term and have lost four of their opening six games ahead of Saturday’s visit of Colchester.
But, after crashing out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy to Chesterfield on Tuesday, midfielder Richards insisted the backline is up to the task.
“The defence is very young and still learning their game but very capable of producing some good performances,” he said. “The more they play the more they’ll improve and we’re going to go from strength to strength.
“We’ve just got to keep working hard, do the right things and concentrate for the whole game.”
