Albion rule out James Morrison appeal

Albion midfielder James Morrison will definitely miss the next three games through suspension after the club ruled out an appeal against his red card at Liverpool.

Morrison was dismissed for a high challenge on Fernando Torres in the second-half of the 1-0 defeat at Anfield.

And Albion officials have decided not to appeal the dismissal, despite maintaining the red card was harsh.

That means Morrison will miss the Premier League home matches against Tottenham and Birmingham, along with the Carling Cup meeting with Manchester City at the Hawthorns.

Head coach Roberto Di Matteo said: “We’ve had a thorough look at all the available video replays of the incident and they have underlined what we felt at the time.

“To have any chance of getting the red card rescinded, the FA rules require us to prove the referee made a ‘clear and obvious mistake.’

“We consider it unlikely an FA panel would agree that is the case in this instance.”
