Hopefully the Wolves will capture their remaining stiking target for the right price today.

I’m confident that we have a squad stong enough to improve on last season but I would prefer greater strength in depth.

    Fingers crossed!

Whomsoever MMM’s choose it’s O.K. with me they have done good up to now.

On an other thought line would it not make things a bit better if clubs were made to stick to the deadlines with the sacking and appointments of managers as well as players??

Get a STRIKER in who is going to SCORE at a decent RATIO.At the moment we only have SEB,
DOYLE is not a prolific GOALSCORER and will not be either, outside the box he is great, inside and getting into goalscoring positions and his shooting is very POOR.
Fletcher I am not sure in terms of becoming a regular SCORER either, like DOYLE he could be a good PLAYER without the scoring ability that SEB as.
We also need an ATTACKING midfielder who can open up defences with one pass,as at the moment HENRY,JONES open defences but there OWN by continually PASSING backways!

Over all pleased with the business Albion have done.RDM has addressed weaknesses we last had in the prem with pace, physicality premiership experienced and premiership nous.Although i think we will struggle to score goals the general defensive strengthening of the team gives us a great base to stay up this time. Well done to the management at our club for doing the business!

I love my club and I think the three Ms have done fantastically well, but i just wish we would make a signing that shows we mean business. I know we have smashed our transfer record twice with doyle and fletcher, but wouldnt it say something to the rest of the prem if we signed a player of the stature of Alexander Hleb instead of seeing him being linked to the blouses. I mean, as if they are a bigger club than us or something, we are giant compared to them. One massive signing each year from now on please and let us show people we are here to stay, after all….if we want to be playing in europe in 2 or 3 years time then its what we need to do.

Just seen about Bent. Now the obvious reaction from all Wolves fans will be disappointment.

Why Bent? The obvious reason is; height, prem league experience

    BUT

Is he actually any beter than Iwelumo? We sold Lumes for £500,000 and how much would Bent cost to buy? probably less?

if this goes ahead I’ll be interested to hear the justification for it. It seems like a bit of a waste of time/money. HOWEVER, I have found myself questioning Wolves transfer activity in the past to be proven wrong.

Felt excited this morning about who we might be buying and this has left us all feeling very disappointed

So Marcus Bent will be a Wolves player today. Some of the comments above preferred a better player but if that is so who would be left out between Kevin Doyle, Steven Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake?
Doyle’s place is assured while Fletcher was bought for a hefty fee and Ebanks-Blake is back to his scoring form. Would any of us prefer one of them to lose his place? Surely not. Bent is a good back-up for the three mentioned and will be a good sub coming on towards the end of the game.
The one player who will miss out of the 25 men squad looks to be Matt Hill although something will surely be done before this evening. Or will he stay to give the reserve team some added experience? We will know this later today.
Keep up the good work Wolves! Having won five points from a possible nine is a satisfactory return although with some more luck they could have been nine out of nine.

What I don’t understand is why we let players like Iwelumo, Keogh and Vokes – who although they may not be world class, know the club and the other players and how they tick – move on, only to replace them with another squad player who is likely to take months to blend in. Haven’t the powers that be learnt from previous years?

At least Marcus Bent will get a game against Notts County in the League Cup. That will increase the hopeful away following at the custard bowl. Might pay a week of his wages. ;)
Must admit that does seem a curious move and with squad size limited to 25 it does seem like a waste. Is it to fulfill the home grown quota?

I’m very happy with our signings this year plus our exsisting players signing extensions will act as a catalyst for the confidence and team spirit within the club. We have signed both proven & experienced Prem players as well as Internationally recognised players.

RDM, Newton & Mafie have proved to be a close knit unit and have done all the right things by keeping patient and sticking to what they always wanted.

I’m confident we can finish like the w**ves did last season but with a bit more style.

Marcus Bent? Oh well! Why not DJ Campbell or someone else young and fit that can come on with energy at the end of a game?

Comments about not wanting another ‘big’ striker are correct, but we need an up and coming striker behind Doyle, Fletcher & SEB … someone like Sam Vokes for instance!

Always hard to find a 4th choice player, as he needs to be someone not expecting to play every week. A young player would have been better, with desires to become good enough one day. Effectively he’s just cover. Even if we had 2 injuries we could play one up front and he’d still be a sub. Could even see Stephen Hunt play as a striker if injuries were that bad, or Vokes recalled from loan. Had MM signed a young player though, this would have further limited the chances of Winnall & Vokes.

Its pretty obvious why weve signed Bent. As was reported yesterday, the club are finding it really hard to lure big clubs in letting youngsters go, unless they are getting regular football, and we obviously wasnt going to break the bank for another premier league striker,as whats the point in spending big money on a player if he isnt going to play.

I obviously would have prefered a young up and coming striker from Chelsea or Arsenal, but they dont want to loan them out if they arent getting games. (i would have thought a little bt of prem experience off the bench, or as backup would have been much better than champ football or mickey mouse cup football?)

Bent is here as a backup and hes not going to play many games, hes not going to come off the bench much, and is only here if we really need him and with a bit of prem experience, could add something to the squad. Im happy with this signing as i wasnt deluded enough to even think we would have been able to bring in the likes of Keane, when we have payed big money for Doyle, Fletcher, and Blake is getting back on track.

All Silvestre has signed for Werder Bremen according to News Now sources. Didn’t think it was true. Still never mind.
Portsmouths Wilson’s deal with Stoke and Part exchange of Sidwell and Liam Lawerence looks to have hit a snag from the Stoke players end.
Doubt it’s enough to let the Baggies back in at this late hour especially with Scharner signing for us yesterday.
Happy with our business even if there is no more to come.
Would be good to see Moore and others go out at least on loan somewhere but the loan market re-opens for a time next week anyhow.

I think Bent is a good addition because he is diferent than all the others and could play with any of them. He is a goal scorer if given the support but he is also robust and can hold the ball up when necessary.

I also think that he probably wants a contract and will be prepared to engage with the Molineux culture of graft and doing ‘a shift’.
I would not be at all surprised if he did really well.

I am worried about Doyle when he is not playing on his own. he seemed lethargic on Sat. – or is it just me.

    To all the wolves supporters
Please understand that Bent is cover
    4th choice.
    Do you really think that
1 Keane would come back or Miller would leave Celtic where he is loved to be 4th choice and sit on the bench, or
2 that MM would bring someone in over the three strikers he has

Sometimes we forget what type of club we are!!!.
If Bent does play we will be in a shocking position with no fit Strikers!!

Marcus Bent will do what is asked of him. I’d rather have a player on loan than going out and paying a few million for a gamble. Lets be honest you can pay 10 million and still not be sure and Wolves are not a club that can afford to do that. Just pack in the moaning and enjoy what we’ve got at the moment which is a good start to our League Program.

kev in mallorca.I happily admit weve made a few good signings,Shorey is a very good signing.I also admit i know nothing about tchoyi,so i reserve judgement on him.I stick by whati said about Fortune,he works hard but misses many more than he scores.Take into account the 60-70 mill prem league money,9 mill incoming from sales, then deduct what weve spent, then explain to me where the rest of the money has gone.JP is using it for buying shares. We have not spent more than 2.5 mill on any player and still no proven goalscorer. We missed out on players,Beattie,Wilson etc because JP still refuses to pay the wages. He has tried doing things on the cheap, its very naive thinking otherwise.
