Ronald Zubar is ‘back to the future’
Tuesday 24th August 2010, 10:00AM BST.
Wolves defender Ronald Zubar wants to go ‘back to the future’ as he prepares for his comeback against League Two club Southend.
Zubar’s debut for the club came a year and a day ago at the same stage of the Carling Cup against Swindon.
That game, Wolves edged through on penalties after a goalless draw to secure a third round tie at Manchester United.
Now the 25-year-old would be satisfied with a similar outcome at Molineux tonight following his groin injury.
He said: “I’m ready if the gaffer needs me tonight. The Carling Cup was my first game last season and it might be the same again.
“It was a good memory for me and a clean sheet. But these games are never easy.
“Hopefully we’ll put on a good performance, get a clean sheet again and win.”
Zubar returns after a frustrating pre-season which saw him suffer an ankle injury 20 minutes into the first friendly against Bohemians before the latest problem.
He said: “It’s been frustrating. Now I’m happy to be fit and be back in training.
“Hopefully I can be involved tonight.”
