Steve Jones boost for Saddlers
Monday 23rd August 2010, 3:33PM BST.
Walsall have been boosted after Steve Jones was only ruled out for two or three weeks with a sprained ankle.
The winger limped out of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Plymouth with initial reports suggesting the 33-year-old had injured his knee.
But a scan today showed Jones has turned his ankle and will miss Saturday’s trip to Brighton, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy visit of Chesterfield next week and the home clash with Colchester on September 4.
He could also sit out the trip to Rochdale on September 11.
Physio Jon Whitney said: “At the time we thought it was his knee. He was in quite a bit of discomfort on Saturday evening but, after assessing him and taking him for a scan, it became apparent that he had sprained his ankle.
“It’s certainly better news than we first thought and, all things being equal, he’ll be back to full fitness in two or three weeks.”
