Albion are poised to wrap up an African double-swoop as Peter Odemwingie confirmed he is close to completing his £2million switch to the Hawthorns.

The Nigeria international revealed he has agreed a contract with the Baggies and claimed his transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow could be finalised as early as today.

And the attacker is set to be followed by Cameroon winger Somen Tchoyi, who is due in England in the next 38 hours to seal his £1.5million move from Red Bull Salzburg.

Odemwingie, who claimed he had already passed an Albion medical, said: "Probably as early as Tuesday, I will officially become a player for West Bromwich Albion.

"I returned from England on Sunday morning and I have signed a personal contract.

"The clubs are left to negotiate among themselves and then my dream to play in the English Premier League can come true."

The 29-year-old, who can play as a central striker or a winger, is set to swap Russia for England after three years with Lokomotiv that have brought 75 league appearances and 21 goals.

The Russian club claimed he was the subject of a £1.6million bid from Birmingham earlier this summer and he was offered to Tottenham as part of a bid by Lokomotiv to sign Roman Pavlyuchenko.

And Odemwingie also claims he has turned down Greek club Panathinaikos to join Albion.

He said: "Their first offer was received last year. But then I saw no point in swapping the Russian championship in for the Greek one.

"I have opted for West Bromwich Albion because I have long wanted to try out in the English league."

Tchoyi's arrival was delayed last week but he is due imminently to tie up the loose ends of his move, meaning Albion could have two new faces in board in time for Saturday's match with Sunderland if they can negotiate transfer red tape.

The Baggies are also still keeping tabs on Liverpool striker David Ngog, but his recent goals for the Reds have made a loan move increasingly unlikely.

And the Frenchman said: "I am happy at Liverpool. I am focused on the club and I'm trying to do my best for Liverpool.

"I am a striker and I want to score a lot of goals for Liverpool."
