Coach Hope Powell declared 'job done' after England womens' convincing 3-0 win over Turkey at Walsall's Banks's Stadium.

The win last night handed them top spot in Group Five and a play-off place, as they bid to qualify for next year's World Cup in Germany.

Rachel Yankey – on her 100th appearance – Ellen White and Jess Clarke made it a comfortable night for England.

Powell said: "We got the job done. It's sometimes difficult to play against that type of opposition, no disrespect to Turkey, but we persevered and created a lot of chances.

"The most important thing was three points and we're in the play-offs with a game in hand.

"We were a better footballing side than them and you do get frustrated when you create chances and don't score, so there were constant reminders to stick to it.

"They handled themselves well."

Powell started Walsall-born Rachel Unitt at left-back and England took the lead after 23 minutes when Eni Aluko swapped passes with Alex Scott, whose clipped pass was dispatched by centurion Yankey.

It was no more than England deserved after a dominant opening which had already seen Yankey hit the bar and Fara Williams head wide.

The hosts kept pressing and Katie Chapman was off target before Williams' free-kick had Duyga Yilmaz scrambling in the visitors' goal just after the break.

Ellen White headed over as Turkey were penned in their own hal,f before the substitute made it 2-0 on 64 minutes with a clinical finish after Jill Scott's throughball.

The overworked but impressive Yilmaz turned Jill Scott's close range effort wide, before Clarke added a third from Yankey's corner with 14 minutes left.
