Wolves alert to Michael Mancienne

Wolves alert to Michael Mancienne

Wolves have been put on alert amid reports that £4million target Michael Mancienne has lodged a transfer request at Chelsea.

Boss Mick McCarthy is keen to add Mancienne and St Etienne midfielder Guirane N’Daw to the six arrivals at Molineux this summer, although the club have not initiated the latest twist in developments.

In any case the manager still has to sell players before he can buy and, with no immediate prospect of any sales, the prospect of Mancienne’s return is not as straightforward as it seems.

But Wolves appear to have a head start on any potential suitors, after the former England under-21 international declared Wolves would be his preference.

He said: “I’ve been at Chelsea since I was a kid and I’d love to break into the first team, but it’s hard for any young player knowing how much quality they’ve got.

“I’ve had two seasons on loan at Wolves and had regular games and really enjoyed it.

“Now I want to be settled at one club.”

Come on Mr Morgan what goods a new stadium if we haven’t got the team Mick wants, another 7 mill wont break the club. GET EM IN.

I think £4million for someone who wouldn’t be in the first eleven is way way way too much.

I would go for N’Daw to compliment Karl Henry and purchase a forward thinking midfielder like Jamie O’Hara, both combined would probably cost less than Mancienne.

Only concern is that O’Hara may go to West Ham, which is close to his London roots and has his former Portsmouth boss Avram Grant in charge.

On the other hand we could play Hunt and Jarvis on the wings and play Kightly as the playmaker in the middle.

If we get Mancienne I think we should make that the end of the summer spending. Maybe a couple of players on loan but only if their good enough.
On a different note just want to say how embarrassing it was to read about the ( so called ) fans fighting in Belgium, dragging our great name into the gutter. If they want to go to another country and fight. Why don’t they join the army. Learn how to become real men while they’re there?

    £3 mill max for Mancienne.
He aint gonna get the holding role ahead of Henry.
To much money, for someone on the bench.

IMO we dont really need either!! not saying we dont need anymore players in because i think we do but although Mancienne is decent i think we could use that sort of money better 4/5m is a bit pricey for an average performer in my opinion! Ndaw is not exactly attracting attention even at 1.5/2m so you have got to ask … how good is he anyway? stoke didnt want him remember!! a ball winning midfielder is a must & someone who can unlock a defence, bit like a milijas but more mobile! OHARA would b good but is he injury prone? hmmm but this is what the scouts are for & i for one dont envy them.

just think its a bit to pricey for someone who is not really going to change a team for the better! anyone agree?

why would Ohara want to come to wolves ???

He would rather stay in London then come to Wolverhampton.

Mancienne should come to wolves as we would make a profit out of him easily as he is still young.

Wolves to finish 14th this season hopefully!!

I know the bench can be a bit cold, but £4m to warm it is a touch expensive. Pehaps we could up the figure to about £6m and buy some quality that will play.

Well said 4, those cowards are a complete embarrassment to our great club! My only comment or concern would be how known hooligans were allowed to travel to the game? Whilst I appreciate the game would not have been designated I’m sure there could have been some work done with banning orders and such like to prevent travel?

On the mancienne side I think 4m would be a steal, he is still learning and I feel as though there is a real opportunity for us to nurture him on to bigger and better things!

If Mancienne goes on the transfer list it may well bring a few more clubs into the arena, but, after two years with us surely we hold at least one ace card. Disagree with 1) Spider. I appreciate your eagerness mate, but, the club MUST stick to it’s spending budget, the consequences for overspending are well known. We clearly need to sell first, (unless those naughty boys (MMM) have got a bit put by !)

    On a lighter note….
Why don’t we gazump Albion for Djemba-Djemba? You gotta laugh, after all the nonsense they’ve posted on our site about signing “relegation fodder” and “parking the bus” their second major signing may well be Reckless Eric.

Some of you need a dose of reality. £4m is not chicken feed and talk of upping it to get a £6m player(without even suggesting who or where from) is beyond the realms of fantasy, indeed both are more than most of us will ever earn in our lifetimes so stop being so silly.

N’Daw is hopeless, a carbon copy of Segundo Castillo, no thanks. Mancienne is worth the transfer fee as he would be a saleable asset and would develop into Henry’s successor/replacement.

Ignore the Albion fan, he and his ilk are jealous that Wolves are spending more on squad players than Albion’s first name on the team sheet.

I think I’d prefer this N’Daw to Mancienne, we’ve not had a strong willed midfielder really since Incey.

I’d like to see them both come in, we only really need a defensive midfielder – I really do think our squad is good enough for a mid table finish.

The chemistry is really good between the players as we haven’t added too many new faces and only seem to be getting rid of dead wood.

When Mancienne can maintain the level of consistency that Karl Henry produces week in week out then maybe he’ll command a regular slot.
I rate Mancienne and hope we sign him, but, he had some worrying dips in form last year and in The Championship. His distribution in particular must improve.

Michael Mancienne would be a great addition to the team, as he already knows most of the players and also gets on well with MM.

I also think we should sign Guirane N’Daw as it wont hurt to have a lot of options in midifled.

Team to start vs Stoke has got to be:

    Ikeme
    Van Damme
    Berra
    Craddock
    Zubar
    Jarvis
    Guedioura
    Henry
    Halford

Can’t believe some of the comments that come from Wolves fans and (I’m assuming) season ticket holders. Mancienne is, and will be class. People seem to forget his age, lack of first team football and that he was playing out of his preferred position for us, which I think he did brilliantly. He tackles well, heads everything like Craddock, and has pace, flair and composure. He would get in the team!
Why do people seem to prefer this N’daw? No one even knows who he is. Also, why should we not improve the stadium? Wolves fans (and away fans) have said for years that you are too far away from the pitch. If we spend the money on the stadium (which we obviously believe we can do) the fans will be moved closer to the pitch and the away fans will get a corner instead of moving (and disrupting) between the south bank (most influential) and the WHOLE lower Steve Bull. This will create a better atmosphere, a better atmosphere will benefit players and fans, helped players will play better, players playing well will win more games, winning games will win more money, encourage more fans and better players…oh and so will having a better stadium…you can ad lib your own cycle of positivity regarding a new stadium now I’ve shown you how! :)

no39 cuedini/Eastwood, The merits of a new stadium are obvious. It is the funding that is the issue and the effect on future budgets for footballers.Personally I go for the football. All the clubs that I listed above thought they could finance new stadiums, but in each case their team building plans have suffered. If we are having problems funding the purchase of Mancienne, the problem will only get worse once the bills come in for the new stands.

Firstly every one comments about Manciennes height. Billy Wright was one of the shortest CH on record. I know he played in a much different era however the guy must have had springs in his boots…..he was terrific. Michael could be the same.

Secondly, I think we were a bit exposed at the back on Saturday with only Craddock & Berra as our CB’s. Think we need another CB. Steve Whatshisname is still injured, Zubar seems to be our RB, Elokobi is not a CH….could be time for Danny Bathh to step up.

Thirdly…its great to have such great pre-season with 3 wins & scoring goals, lets not get carried away though it’s EPL points that will make the difference. So although winning is habitual we need to kick off our season with some solid performances & points. These 3 wins are meaningless.

Finally to the game on Saturday, I know I was not there (live in Aussie now) & hearing some fans saying they were caught up in it without being involved, unfortunately this is how it was back in the late 60′s & 70′s etc & I thought these days were long gone. Innocent bystanders get caught up in mindless thugs games. I really though the “subway army” was dead & buried. To those fans who went to Belgium & behaved I say thanks, to those who went to fight on arrangement I say keep out of FOOTBALL & keep out of our great club. Championship teams will get some good players on good deals (maybe only paying half the wages). I think we will struggle to shift our dead wood that easily. Chris,I think it’s time we stopped kicking this one around. Steve Morgan is no fool, he has a vision, which is adaptable as Wolves progress (or otherwise !) over the next five years. The board will balance the various streams of income against the outgoings. I would be very surprised if there were not an ever increasing transfer warchest over the coming years to cover all eventualities.
Long term, if successful, the new stadium will reap greater rewards.
