Youssouf Mulumbu raring to go in the Premier League
Friday 23rd July 2010, 12:28PM BST.
Albion midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu believes the Baggies’ hat-trick of contract deals this summer proves their ambition to succeed in the Premier League.
Mulumbu became the third Hawthorns star to extend his stay with the club when he penned a new two-year deal with an extra year’s option yesterday.
And, with Jerome Thomas and Graham Dorrans already having sealed contract extensions, Mulumbu is excited about the future at The Hawthorns.
He said: “I’m very happy. It’s taken a while to sort out but now it’s done I can look forward to the season ahead.
“I’m happy because I’ve seen other players sign new deals. We just have to keep going. It shows this club is really ambitious.
“It looks good for the future, this team is young, and I think we can do well in the Premier League.”
And DR Congo international Mulumbu believes his own new deal has given him an added spring in his step for the Premier League season.
He said: “It gives me confidence. When I first came to England no-one knew me and I didn’t know every player.
“I’ve signed a new contract, I’ve played in the Premier League before, I know every player, I know the club, the staff and now I have to do what I have to do.
“I think it is going to be a good season for Youssouf Mulumbu.”
