Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Steven Mouyokolo injured for Wolves
Wednesday 21st July 2010, 10:57AM BST.
Wolves’ £2.5million new-boy Steven Mouyokolo is out of Saturday’s friendly in Belgium as he faced up to the prospect of another week on the sidelines.
The former Hull defender is still struggling with the ankle that took a hefty whack two weeks ago, ruling him out of the opening two friendlies, and will now miss the trip to Charleroi with the injury.
Mouyokolo and fellow Frenchman Ronald Zubar will both sit out the game, after the full-back strained ankle ligaments in the 3-0 win at Bohemians on Saturday.
But manager Mick McCarthy insisted neither player’s injury was serious.
He said: “Steven has settled down. He was a lot better yesterday. He won’t be going to Belgium but I’d hope he might be back involved in training next week. He got a nasty kick which settled down quickly but it turned out to be worse than it was.”
“Ronald will be alright. He’s not going to be long term. He’s strained his ligaments but he’ll be OK and he’s feeling a lot better.”

brilliant performance last night lads well done
the only thing i disagree with is yes doyle and fletch are going to be brilliant together in the premiership but vokes and ebanks just dont cut it for me i mean yh they were brill last night but thats against wallsall last season ebanks didnt get enough chances for me but i think vokes needs to go on a season loan to get the experience which is needed so i still think we need another striker cause say if fletch or doyle get a bad injury and out for a few months it would be a massive blow so need a bigger back up i think.
as for going for that N’Daw im not to sure not seen much of him but we was going to offer chelsea 4 million for mancienne why not offer spurs 4/5 million for jamie o’hara ??

Starting to look like Mick has chosen his four strikers. Keogh was given a chance to prove himself against Boh’s, but maybe he didn’t do enough. Any bid of around £2m is a good bit of business. The Hoff will be out of the door even sooner than Keogh. I bet he’ll find a club in Europe. There won’t be any loan deals considered. Whats the point – they clearly have no future at Wolves.
Matty Hill surely has suitors in the Championship, but he has become a bit of a forgotten man. I doubt Wolves will get any money for him.
Halford might actually be part of the squad next season, which will surprise some fans. Not seen the best from him yet. But with Mick giving the squad a clean slate could he be one of the shock performers this season. He’s made a good contribution in pre-season so far.

SEB’s issue has always been that he can’t handle been man marked. This was shown again yesterday when he had someone twice his size on his back for a good hour and the minute that player was subbed off he managed to break free and score.
This is what you get for being a double golden booter. You draw too much attention from being the most devastating striker we have at our disposable. Doyle may be our best player but with 9 goals compared to SEB’s 40+ the stats don’t lie.
I feel as attention drew more towards Doyle towards the end of the season SEB would have started to sneak more goals in if he had played.
Fletch looked good and made some good balls to Doyle. My worry however is that Doyle has started to hog the ball a little and chose to take on 2 defenders rather than giving a return ball back to a now open Fleth. This happened on a couple of occasions. I hope this is just hangovers from last seasons formation and that Doyle can integrate back to playing with a partner again. I’m sure a familiar face like Hunt back might help.

Why does oharas name keep being brought up , hes injured , a southener and his wag loves the london light , our squad is looking fine , a tweak here and there and were gud 2 go ! Just a thought wot about dindane ? Solves a striker / winger problem in 1 swoop !

I was very impressed with our passing and movement last night and the players looked very sharp. The boy Hemmings looks a real prospect and a little time on loan will do him good likewise Vokes who is not yet ready.
I think SEB will come good he was man marked in every game as no.4 says when attention turned to Doyle he scored and had a few assists. Dorrans will be Albions marked man this season and you watch him struggle.
If Hill, Keogh and Maierhoffer are off Id like to see N’Daw or Mancienne come in and Weiss on loan from Man City.

Oh and I have read today we have made an offer to Benjani who is a free Agent along with Blackburn and West Ham.

Good game last night, we looked well up for it, nice to see a lot of the kids playing too.
Thought halford looked very good and if we keep him could be like a new singing.
Well done lads….keep it up…

5. Wanderwall.
Even being a southerner myself I have to agree O’Hara is not a player I want at the club. He does seem to be more interested in being on tv and in magazines than playing football.
One more top class midfielder and we are done id say.

Well done wolves for the result last night and well done to the youth players that played really well as well!
I hope both players recover soon. As for halford i didnt think he had a very good game last night and think he is out of his depth! Talking of good games although they only had twenty odd minutes together i thought doyle and fletch played well together ecspecially if we could get more crosses into them!
i would love to see mancienne back with us but with N’Daw coming in cant see it happening now which is a shame! A striker to replace keogh if he goes and ship out halford, hill, hoff and think we are there!

What about reo-coker. Who is apparently available for 1 mill?

SEB our best player, the eye of the tiger is back. I could sense it yesterday, he’s hungry to prove himself.

Good result last night, but is was Walsall not
Villa or Brum. SEB back in the goal tally, this is good.

I agree, i thought Halford had a good run out in Dublin on sat, never saw Keogh looking so bad and uninterested, whow Van Damme looked terrific while i thought Doyle and Fletcher worked very well together. Wasnt it lovely to see Big Matt Murray in Dublin pure gent giving lots of time to supporters, not like another goalie no names mentioned, hope the big man is fit and pushing for his place soon.

Is this possible?

Tom, I have to disagree with you. I think SEB shed the pounds over the pre-season and you could tell that by him constantly pulling up his shorts haha. Doyle went on his own constantly yesterday when he couldve passed to fletcher who was in a better postion. Vokes has filled out aswell, he looks a lot more baulky than he ever has. What you need to remember is that it is only our second game of pre-season. Lets judge on the 7th August (against Bilbao).
The fact is, we wont go in for Jamie O’hara, why would we when we have already brought most of our players in.
A holding midfielder is what is needed as we need competition in those cental positions. Its alright constantly talking about attack minded players but unless you sort out the defensive side then unfortunately we are going down.

Sylvans goal, all be it in a friendly, showed great skill and accuracy in the finish. He didnt even think about the shot just smashed it it. Hope this is the start of a great season for him.
With Kights, Zubar, Hannemanneman lol, Hunt, Adlene, Milijas, Mouyokolo to come back yet……… looks good.

No 5. You are quite right, why do people keep talking about O’Hara?
He is a london boy, goes to London Night clubs, has a london WAG, and likes getting his photo in the paper falling out of trendy clubs.
If he moved north of Watford he would get a nose bleed.

I will add though that if you can offload Stearman for £2 m then please do. Hate his style of play and had enough of his stupid tackles and antics (see tackle last night for example and the 2 red cards he’s had in last season and a bit) Would be good business for the club.

STEARMAN is wreckless at best! Why he loses his marbles I cannot understand.Defending is not just with arm’s,leg’s but also the brain.

JJ – I think you underestimate the difference in quality between the Championship and the Premier. The stats dont lie……….. but this is only true if the playing field is even and the difference between the divisions mean its not anywhere near an even comparison.

5 and 18) O’Hara has a London WAG ? what both ? wife and girlfriend ?
Unlikely to finish up at Molineux then.
Can’t see Jez stumping up for a Club house AND a Club love nest.
rich5wolves 19) Didn’t see game last night only TV highlights, so can’t judge Stearman’s “tackle”. Would be disappointed if he hasn’t learned from last season and his punishment (banned to the bench). Disagree with you, however, I think he is a bit of a diamond being polished. Definately work in progress.
