Blues set for new Nathaniel Clyne bid

Birmingham are primed to launch a fresh £2million bid for Crystal Palace’s teenage defender Nathaniel Clyne.

Blues, currently on tour in Beijing, have already had two offers turned down by the Eagles but hope to land their man with a reported third.

The Championship club are playing hardball, but Blues look determined to get their man.

New Selhurst Park boss George Burley is desperate to keep his 19-year-old starlet as he tries to rebuild Palace.

The right-back excelled for the team last season as they won their battle against relegation, after having 10 points deducted for going into administration.

Clyne turned down a move to Wolves in January and has made 59 appearances, scoring once, for Palace.

Burley is desperate to raise funds but the club has rejected a £750,000 offer and a £1.25million bid from Blues, as they try to maximise their profit.

Manager Alex McLeish is keen on Clyne, an England under-19 international, and is reportedly preparing a fresh bid while the team are on tour in the Far East.

Palace fan here. Such lazy journalism. We’re not ‘cash-strapped’ nor do we have crippling financial problems. A new consortium has come in and we are now debt free. None of our players need to be sold and 2m for Clyne is a joke anyway.

Never heard of clyne before the bids but being a good prospect doesn’t make a good player(we’ve had alot of those).Unfotunately for palace clynes a big fish in a very small pond and with their recent media attention any dealings with palace will bring the journalists out the woodwork.
