Wayne Rooney trains with England
Friday 25th June 2010, 2:00PM BST.
Wayne Rooney has boosted England ahead of their knockout clash with Germany by through a full training session in Rustenburg.
The Manchester United striker was a doubt for Sunday’s World Cup last 16 clash, after being taken off in the 1-0 win against Slovenia with an ankle injury.
But the 24-year-old came through a full workout with Fabio Capello’s squad today, as England honed their preparations for the huge clash in Bloemfontain.
Rooney, who damaged ligaments to the same ankle at the end of March, has so far been a shadow of the player who scored 34 goals for United last season.
But the forward remains England’s talisman and their chief goal threat, despite not scoring in his last eight internationals.
