Freddie Bouma offered PSV chance
Friday 25th June 2010, 11:27AM BST.
Left-back Freddie Bouma has been offered the chance to prove his worth to PSV Eindhoven following his release by Villa this summer.
The Holland international will train with his former club, whom he left for Villa in 2005, over the next few weeks with a view to a permanent deal – if he can convince the Dutch giants his two years of injury hell are behind him.
Bouma suffered a horror ankle dislocation in July 2008 and that, combined with a succession of other injuries, prevented him appearing for the claret and blues’ first team again.
The 32-year-old is now a free agent, after boss Martin O’Neill decided against offering him a new deal.
But PSV coach Fred Rutten could now offer him a route back into the game.
He said: “Freddie hasn’t played much in the past two years, so we’ll have to wait and see what he’s still capable of.
“However, we have the intention to offer him a contract if he turns out to be fully match fit.”
