Borja Valero braced for Albion return

Albion record signing Borja Valero will return to the Hawthorns for pre-season training if Sevilla fail to strike a transfer deal to keep him in his native Spain.

The £4.7million midfield man predicted that negotiations between the Baggies and Sevilla could drag on beyond July 3, when the squad are due to report back to Albion.

But the 25-year-old promised to play things ‘by the book’ and train with the Baggies while his future is resolved.

Valero has admitted his desire to sign for Sevilla, after a successful season on loan from Albion to Real Mallorca.

But Sevilla have yet to lodge a formal bid with the Baggies, who expect the player back in England for pre-season training in less than a month.

He said: “They have informed me that on July 3 I have to be in England.

“I do not know how negotiations are going, because it is a topic I want to leave directly with my agent.

“I would rather be resting in Mallorca, on the beach, although I admit it’s hard when what is at stake is your future.”

Valero is confident his agent, Alejandro Camano, will call “sooner rather than later” to inform him of progress.

But, after his loan move to Mallorca was only concluded with hours left in last summer’s transfer window, the Spainard believes history could repeat itself.

If all your interested in is warm weather and the beach then God help your new club.I can’t wait for your tranfer from our beloved Albion.I have seen more passion and commitment in a gnat.It will be nice to get rid of a spoilt brat and spend the the money we get from selling you on a footballer.Just because you hav’nt got the guts to play in the premiership, you want out.Well let me tell you this,we the fans can’t wait for you to go either.BOING BOING BAGGIES.

Errrm isnt it June 10th today?

Let them play hard ball with JP and see who wins, to be fair to Valero he isnt kicking up a fuss and throwing a strop like a few in the past. Never know if we dont sell him he may just fit into what RDM is bulding, lets face it he is a talented player, he just didnt suit the Mowbray team.

On a different subject, anybody know anything re the new strip?

Why is it we always leave it until the last minute? Surely any marketing guru would say it is best to release it early summer for all those going on holiday.

Wish i was lying on a beach for next few weeks, for gord sake give the man a break,he say’s he will play it by the book.Fair enough. If he does have to turn out for the Baggies and makes a big impression under RDM what happens then?Under Mowbray he was played out of position most of the time, and given “imo” a bit of a raw deal, but then it’s all about opinion’s.We don’t all agree. That’s what makes footy such a great subject for constructive argument.Let’s just wait and see.

We’ve all had jobs where we didn’t fit in and it isn’t good for anyone concerned, but whoever pays your wages calls the tune. So Senor, enjoy your holidays and be ready for work on 3rd July. I see we’ve lost interest in Pedersen so the local dentists will relax.

I think that’s a bit bitter mate. When you say ‘we’ as fans, I don’t think you represent everybody.

Valero didn’t work out last time around, but I don’t think it was to do with a lack of commitment on his part.

He wasn’t bought as a tackler, but found himself having to do it because we didn’t have one. I don’t think there’s any doubt he’s a talented footballer.

He says he wants to spend his holiday on the beach, do you blame him? He says nothing about wanting to spend next season on a beach. But he probably wants to spend it somewhere where he can do what he’s good at, and he’s guaranteed first-team football, which he isn’t at Albion.

If he comes back, I’d welcome him as I think he could work in a 5-man midfield ahead with Mulumbu behind him. If not, good luck to him.

No1 I can tell by your pathetic rant that you must be a fully paid up member of the MOANING MORON BRIGADE.What would most people, given the choice,do with their summer holidays? the same as VALERO is doing and after his fantastic season this year for Mallorca just missing out on a chance to qualify for the Champions league,I think he’s entitled to warm weather and the beach. After his 1st taste of English football he and the club realised he lacked physical strength,he didn’t give up and sulk he did extra weight training every afternoon after training, this showed when he came back to Mallorca every one said he had more bulk than when he left,he never had a real chance under Mowbray and the crowd turning on him didn’t help but he is a good player with a great football brain, that’s more than can be said about some of our so called FANS.If he does come back I for one would be happy to give him another shot with the players and style we play under RDM and don’t forget the weather he and his wife had to contend with, wall to wall rain,it must have been terrible trying settle,we found it easy the other way round rain to sun ADEU

I think that if he does stay with us then we have players who can protect him in midfield this time around and maybe we could see the best of him.

Despite your name I seem to remember that at one stage last season you said you wouldn’t be coming again, I think it was if Luke Moore played. Hardly ‘passion and commitment’ to your club.

Remember WBA are not his club, he’s our player. Put yourself in his place, you’ve signed for a club in Russia, done your best, realised you’ve made a mistake and can’t settle when the chance of a move back to your own country comes up. Wouldn’t you want to go home?

We need fans that get behind ALL of our players as long as they’re OUR players.

Jonas had a whale of a time playing for Sweden. He deserved to become an international and we shall benefit from it.
I’d like to play Devil’s Advocate on Valero.
If no one coughs up the cash, he’ll be an Albion player. He isn’t built for tackling, he doesn’t like our weather, his role under Mowbray was less defined and he rarely showed his abilities. However, if Roberto waves his wand again, we may see what Mallorca got for OUR money. A Bobby Hope type might I suggest?
In that case he’d be made welcome by ALL the fans, the rain wouldn’t be quite so cold, the language not so intimidating…I have great faith in our management team. Let’s keep an open mind as there only two choices left.

Ok dings you had trouble understanding this last season so let me try and explain before the world cup, imagine your in netto queueing in single file, the ding in front of you as forgot his wallet to your dismay you then realise you dont have yours,a salution is that your ding friend towards the back of the queue is offering to throw is wallet to you,you cant queue jump untill the wallet has been thrown to you, once the wallet has been thrown u can quickly dodge the ding infront of you then confront the ding at the till, thats right dings its the offside rule, aye boing boing

Morning all, I’ve been keeping quiet recently, but I thought I’d get involved with this little discussion.

Imagine if it was announced tomorrow that West Brom had just signed Real Mallorca’s ster player, highly regarded as the best player in Spain who wasn’t playing for the big 2 teams over there?!

We’d all be going nuts about him!! Everyone seems of the opinion that Ibanez will be a fantastic signing, so why are some people so worried if Valero comes back?

He’s had 12 months away, got confidence back, and now with an opportunity to potentially come play for a much stronger and balanced Albion team!!

If we had a midfield of Brunt, Mulumbu, Valero and Dozza with 2 strikers who are capable of finishing chances, we’ll be very, very strong!

Then we have the options of Mozza, Barnes, Thomas, Jara, Reid etc etc to come into the team also.

We have a strong midfield, our defence is being improved as required, so now it’s another keeper and a goal poacher or 2 that are our priority.

As usual two very measured, sensible posts. This can only be a win, win situation for us. Either JP gets a wedge of cash for team rebuilding or we get a midfielder who would strengthen most teams in the PL.

Valero is not a Baggie and if truth be told I think he was forced out of Mallorca because they wanted the money rather than him wanting to leave Spain.

I’ve had to move away from home for work and while it’s easy for the bloke because you have your work and mates at work it can be a lonely life for the wife. There are also two more Spanish speakers at the club now, Ibanez and Jara. In the interview I don’t think he was complaining about the weather he was just saying that he was enjoying his holiday.

Lots of people on here complain about the ‘badge kissers’ that love the club one week then want a move the next. Valero seems to be getting stick for at least being honest.

Finally like Warren says. If he does come back, which seems unlikely, let’s give him a chance and a bit of support. Who knows, as Cyril says, he may end up as a hero if he plays like Bobby Hope.

While you are offering this excellent Care in the Community service for the cerebrally challenged and it’s very charitable of you. Could you not offer your services to the Referee’s Association, perhaps some of their members might understand the rules a bit better then.

RBH and Sir Terry. That description of the offside rule just about sums up the extreme mess that FIFA and EUFA have made of it. Not everything was perfect in the old days, the ball was a nightmare, pitches were not as well kept in mid-season, the ‘I can’t play, but I can stop those who can’ got away with blue murder because no one ever got sent off, yet the rules were simple enough. You were offside if there were not two players of the defending team nearer the goal than you. End of. In fact up until about 1927, it was THREE!
Mistakes occasionally happened of course, but WE understood the rules and accepted the clangers. Is anyone sure of how it works now?
Or doesn’t work, in my view.

Valero wants to move as it didn’t work out last time and he can play for one of the top sides in Spain – Sevilla. If he gets his move then good luck to him, but if not, I’ve no doubt he’ll come back and give it another go. He’s a good player so it may work out next time. I don’t think there’s any need to have a pop at him.

It’s struck again. I commented earlier on the dark side thread about Kightly.
One of theirs mentioned what Kightly would do to the Spanish international we were all raving about but had never seen. I suggested that as I saw him in a friendly that I’d probably seen him as many times as they’d seen Kightly.
Another one didn’t want ‘Cotton Wool Kightly’ to play against Albion or Blues as we’d ‘nobbled’ him. I pointed out that Kightly had said himself that no one was near him for that injury.
What a surprise. Another post gone in the ether. Nothing abusive in it, just telling the truth. Not the Gospel according to St Wulfie though. I shan’t bother commenting over there again. Waste of time.

Are you for real?. He is entitled to warm weather
and a beach is he, maybe he should be in Brazil
playing beach-ball. Wall to wall rain, now that’s a shame for him and his family. Has he had to contened with flash floods then?. By the way (1)
