Albion today warned Sevilla they will not be pressurised into selling record signing Borja Valero 'on the cheap'.

Sporting director Dan Ashworth admitted the Baggies will consider offers for the midfielder, who suffered a tough season with the club in the Premier League.

But Ashworth warned that Albion will only offload the former Real Madrid trainee on their own terms.

"The first thing I have to say is that we have no formal offer (from Sevilla)," he said. "I know there is interest, but there is no clear movement.

"It is one thing for Borja Valero to want to sign for Sevilla and quite another for us to have an agreement.

"First, someone must make an offer, and then we will analyze everything. What I will say is that we are not going to under-sell the player."

Valero has stated publicly that he wants to join Sevilla after he rebuilt his reputation with an impressive campaign back with his previous club, Real Mallorca, on loan from The Hawthorns.

With Sevilla having booked their place in the final qualifying round for next season's Champions League, Valero is anxious for the move to go ahead.

And, while Albion have refused to close the door on a return to England for their £4.7m signing, head coach Roberto Di Matteo retains doubts about Valero's physical ability to cope in the Premier League.

However, Ashworth has insisted the Baggies expect Valero back in England for pre-season training in July unless a sale is agreed beforehand.

"If we reach an agreement that's okay because I know the player's desire is to continue in the Spanish league," he said.

"But if not, Borja will have to join West Bromwich Albion training because he belongs to our club.

"There will be no problem with that."
