Roman Bednar set to stay with Albion

Albion striker Roman Bednar looks set to stay at the Hawthorns despite surprise rumours linking him with a move to QPR.

Online reports last night claimed Hoops boss Neil Warnock was lining up a £1.5million bid for the Czech Republic international.

But the Baggies have not received any offers for the 26-year-old and Bednar remains determined to play a part in the club’s Premier League campaign next season.

Warnock is a known admirer of Bednar’s ability and was linked with a move for the former Hearts player early in his time at the helm of Crystal Palace.

But any move now appears to be a non-starter, not least as Bednar is not on the list of players Albion have earmarked for potential sales this summer.

Friends of the player were also taken by surprise by last night’s stories and were quick to dismiss the possibility of a transfer.

One member of the Bednar camp told the Express & Star: “We haven’t been made aware of any contact, and in any case it wouldn’t interest Roman at this stage.

“With West Brom getting back to the Premier League he wants to be a part of that and he is just concentrating on being fully fit and rested for the new season.”

Bednar is currently at home in Prague recovering from a hernia operation, having enjoyed a return to prominence during last season’s Championship promotion.

Once again old muppet face is trying to stir up some some of his own brethren at the Baggies. Why would Bednar go to QPR? Premiership football? Love of a club that supported him through hard times? An awe inspiring manager? £1.5 million is a joke, he’s a Czech international. Warnock, you’ll have to sell half your 1st team to land him.

1.5 mill????? I thought they were the richest club in the country. An insult, especially as Roman is going to have a big season.

Despite the fact that I always dismiss the transfer rumours page, I have to say I’ve always liked the look of Myhill. He’d fit the bill very nicely.

Why so many Wulfies in disguise on here lately. Are they not excited about signing Jelly. I wonder why? After all it wasn’t just his fault that Saints went down and he’s very big in Belgium.

I would get rid of Roman, not just for the problems he caused last season but because he was poor last season and this is a huge step up.

I would be over the moon if we signed Myhill and Carson could then be back up, he does not command his box enough and makes far too many mistakes.

    2. Bully, whats your obsession with Wolves mate, Im starting to worry about you. We were interested in that Jelly guy and so were Fulham. Lets hope he has a stinker against us.

We finish 17th above Blackpool, Wigan and Newcastle and then we can start to build for the future.

Slow news day! Let’s get Paublo signed up and then we will have something meaningful to fill the space with.
Warnock may well be interested. His style of football would require a player like Bednar. It’s not the fee that’ll turn Bednars head its the wages they may well offer. However RDM Dan Ashworth and JP know only too well we need to add to our firepower not sell the best of what little we have up front. Two years ago we let KP go, and didn’t replace him. I think all in the boardroom at the Hawthorns know that was a mistake – whatever they may say in public. We can’t let this happen again – can we…

TRBH. I rarely ever go on the Wulfies’ pages myself, but do any of our lot play this stupid and very childish ‘spy game’? Honest banter is good for the E&S and us. This page is copied by other papers but never equalled, so the dishonest stuff lowers the tone. Look at post No.5 for instance. One ‘g’ in Baggies so obviously a spy. We learn to spell Baggies at two years old. Why, only on Sunday, my great grandson was lifted up by his Dad, told to say ‘Villa’, which he did, but he also yelled ‘I love Baggies’. Even his Dad laughed along with a few from Frankie and Benny’s in Wall.

Cyril – its a shame that this forum is getting dragged down by these idiots – I guess it does happen on both sides but when/if I bother to read the wulfie pages there is nothing that stands out as a spy.

I can’t imagine what they get out of it – its not like they fool anyone….. sometimes I respond but most times I ignore them.

The paper can’t be expected to check everyone out so maybe we just agree to ignore them and hope they go away.

7 Cyril Randle. We have one of your lot on our pages calling himself Bob Wolf, always calling for everybody to be sacked or sold.

I like to come on to your pages to read the rantings of STB. Poor deluded bloke.

Good luck next season (except for 2 matches), looking forward to a real Premier League derby.

Bednar is the only forward who can hold the ball up and play up front by himself. Important if you’re playing 4-5-1 don’tcha think. Miller can’t do that.

    7 Cyril.
I go on the Wolves sight occasionally when there is an interesting article on there but I go on as myself and I don’t resort to childish name calling.
Yeah I’m guilty of the odd jibe on here to wind up the idiots like No 5 and it always works. I love it when a Wulfie comes on here taking the Michael in a funny way, I don’t even mind plonkers like adeyp from the other thread, that don’t have the wit to be funny but at least they’re honest.
I’m guessing No 5 is Laughing Wolf although he hasn’t forgot to change his ID lately. I can imagine him sitting there now with a big warning sticker on his machine, saying to himself ‘doh, they’ve guessed.

    4 Sir Terry.
According to No 5, Albion and Fulham were looking at Jelly but the fact that Wolves signed him unopposed says more than we ever could.

As it stands Roman is the only forward that can hold the ball up for us and therefore he has to stay unless something better comes along….hows about we offer Moore and Miller for that Tarabet who plays for QPR…now he looks a decent prospect and those two are no where near good enough for the Premier league…barely good enough last season in the Championship. You know it makes sense. I thank you..

I hope bednar stays, and that we get another striker with him, at the moment we are looking as if we are going about business in the right way, Ibanez looks to be arriving and 26 international caps cannot be bad for any side in the premiership, lets hope we can get Myhill and build on for next season, cant wait for fixtures day (same day as my Geography exam) Boing Boing!

11 – honest to God I always presumed Bob wolf was a genuine fan – without being funny there are plenty of really negative wolves fans (Jiwal, wolvesmod, southbank ect…) so its hard to know.

However, most (not all) baggies fans tend to be more positive or supportive of the club which usually makes spotting idiots like 5 above so much easier.

Thanks for the good luck wishes – same back at ya !!

Great news about Ibanez – along with Tamas and Olsson this really gives RDM some choices to make….. as for the daft dingles hoping he wouldn’t sign…. come on lads – you should know us better than that.

Considering our squad was better than wolves before the signings, this must be really worrying.

I reckon we are now just a striker or 2 away from having a fantastic season…. any other signings will just be for back up (keeper, FB ect).

Bednar will be O.K. now his Hernia is sorted.
    (21)
Yes the flood-gates should be pegged open as long as there is no foul language.
The way Blackpool play we like them will finnish a
country mile in front of Micks ultra defensive
    cloggers.
ALBION don’t have to foist an un known brand of
football strip on our youngsters for a few dollars more. So you call that sponsorship do you.
Wait till they are confronted by the youngsters who have BIG name brands of kit.
Their little lives will be made a misery. Never
mind you can brag about your few coppers.
    (22)
You bet. Three out of three. Olsson will learn a
    lot from Pablo’s abundant experience.
    (23)
Wrong again lord dog-head. You’ve acquired yet
another defender. Barnes will take him to the
    cleaners.
    (25)
Class strikers! that rules out Flecher then.

It’s admirable the amount of experience ALBION
have added to the squad up to yet.
Think of all the experience our Academy will have at their disposal. Well done Jeremy Peace and all

happy baggie. your comments are both hilarious and delusional. albion have not got a better squad than wolves and we are certainly not worried about your team. the fact is that we survived comfortably with a young inexperienced team and for starters wigan and west ham plus the 3 promoted teams have got to try and finish above us. we are flush and with the other signings should have no concerns. this signing for u looks a good one albeit he did not have a good last season but you have no decent premiership
