Albion have signed loan star Steven Reid on a two-year contract after his release from Blackburn.

The Republic of Ireland international, who had also talked with Celtic over a move, spent the final two months of the season with the Baggies and has now agreed to join them for their return to the Premier League next season.

Reid, 29, will officially join on July 1 after passing a medical and has the option of a further 12-month extension on his contract.

Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo said: “We are delighted ‘Reidy’ has decided to rejoin us on a permanent basis.

“He made a big impact last year both on and off the field. He was a consistent performer and also great in the dressing room.

“Having spent the last six years or so in the Premier League he knows the division inside-out and that kind of experience could prove invaluable.”

I come in peace !! I have a question which I’m sure many of you will also be wanting to ask. If Reid failed a medical at Celtic yet passed a medical at the Hawthorns what’s going on ? I’d be interested to hear what you think about it.

From what I can tell that’s not been confirmed, but if it is true, TRBH made a good point in recent days regarding this.

In the last season, we’ve taken gambles on Thomas and Barnes, who both had a long history of injury problems, and so far, that seems to have paid off, the former playing a huge part in our promotion and the latter looking sharp in the short time we’ve seen him.

Also, Paul Robinson failed a medical at Wigan a few seasons back, then went on to play a full season for us, and is still regularly available for selection at Bolton.

I think what goes for one club, doesn’t necessarily go for another. I don’t know if that’s down to the insurance policies different clubs take out on their players or something like that, but I’d be willing to trust our medical staff on this given their recent record.

1 filton,he daint have a medical, thats just a smokescreen,on the way up he realalised he was making a big mistake leaving a club that next season could finish in the top four, and celtic was just a team who employed over the hill dingles, aye boing boing

I think a very useful addition to the squad with PL experience, just what we were looking for. On the medical side…our trusted team have nurtured the likes of Barnes, Morrison & Miller back from near extinction so I feel assured that they have not only the club but just as importantly the players welfare at heart. I have a sneaking suspicion that with the right assistance that Coxy could be our next KP…he looked very confident with the goal against Middlesborough & does get into a lot of good areas in the box. It will get very interesting in the next few weeks especially with the new rules & reg’s

He did have a medical at Celtic otherwise he or his agent would of catigorically denied it and sued Celtic for telling the press he did.

Your medical team must be excellent to get Barnes and Thomas fit and I expect they will do the same with Reid, your medical team are a good asset and certianly save you some cash at the Albion and we all know how how your JP loves to save money!

I too am confused with the medical for Reid – but pehaps its like buying a car….. Would you negotiate the price and maybe the HP and then take it for a test drive ??

Clubs waste a lot of time and effort negatiating with players and agents – only for them to fail the medical so maybe its just routine for a player to go through one before discussions start.

As for failing it – it doesn’t mean his leg is about to fall off…. maybe there is some technicality that wasn’t cleared, either way, after what i saw of him last season i think he is a great asset to the club.

Spot on. Fancy taking a risk on a crock, when we could’ve signed Matt Murray or Michael Kightly instead. Was in McIndoe who preferred to play in Bristol?

matt murray was brought through youth system and not signed and kightly was fit when we signed him and has only recently had injury problems. McIndoe knew he was’nt going to be able to hack it at wolves, look at him now lol.

good signing though lol, good luck west yo yo brom!

He’s played more games in the last 2 months than those two have managed in the last year, and I bet he’s not taking as much away in salary.

Neither of us know what, if any, injury problems Reid may have, but I’m pretty certain our medical staff know a lot more than you do.

I hear you’re signing Fletcher the target man? Goodbye Kevin Doyle……

I was reading just the other day that Jody Craddock’s concerned about people writing off Blackpool, he’s obviously worried they’ll provide stiff competition for that 19th spot….

    JACK the HAT.

To all the “dingle dung” on this string, as it stands ALBION-2 wooluphs 0, and we haven’t started
    playing yet.

    (1)
Answer: ALBION have a better Medical team than either Celtic or wooluphs. And the next.

    (9)
Yes we have an exellent Medical team. How you wish you had an owner that was quick off the mark
and also a wooluphs suporter, like JEREMY PEACE
has already acquired two players and is an ALBION
fan. Morgans saving his cash for Liverpool and will add to it when he sells DOYLER.

    (12)
He is still playing good football, unlike your washed-up dead-wood.

    (15)

IT took your medical team a long while to realise
Murray was a crock. Was Kightly crocked for not bringing his PADS in for training?. Is JELLY-BABBY
having second thoughts or have Bilston made an offer?.

    (17)
About Doyle, don’t bet on it.
Going to be some fun ahead! is Mick allowing the
wooluphs to advance over the halfway line next season then?. Who’s going down again? deluded dingle.
