Top scoring striker Tyrone Barnett has become the second player to be propelled from Hednesford and into the Football League with Macclesfield.

Barnett follows former team-mate Ross Draper to Moss Rose after turning down a new deal to stay at Keys Park, on the back of a prolific season for the Pitmen which netted him 28 goals in league and cup.

It was his second season at the club after moving from Willenhall, having previously served Rushall Olympic and AFC Telford.

Now the 24-year-old will get his chance in the full time professional game and Macclesfield will be hoping for another hit, with Dyer and Draper key men for Hednesford in their one campaign together.

It's a second chance of sorts for Barnett after starting out as a trainee for Albion, and one that he is looking to grab with both hands.

He said: "The Football League is always the dream for players in the lower divisions and I want to try and make the most of this opportunity.

"I gave Ross a call about the club when I discovered that Macclesfield were interested. He's seemed to have enjoyed his time here and recommended it to me.

"He's shown that you can make the jump from that level to the Football League and make a success of it. I want to repay the faith in bringing me here and can't wait to get started.

"I know that I had been looked at last season, when they were watching Ross and had liked the look of me.

"But I had not been aware that the interest had continued this season, so it was a bit unexpected."
