Gabby happy to lose out to Carew

Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor would happily lose out to John Carew in the race for the club’s golden boot – because it would guarantee more goals for the team.
The strike duo are currently neck-and-neck on 16 goals apiece, with just two games of the season to go.
Agbonlahor led Villa’s scoring charts for the previous two campaigns only to be edged out late on by Carew on both occasions, but would have no complaints if history repeats itself for a third time.
He said: “That’s not on my mind. As long as I’m scoring, that’s the main thing. If someone scores more than me, that’s not a problem because it’s good for the team.
“At the moment, things are going well for me and I’m certainly not complaining. I just want to concentrate on playing well and keeping the goals coming.
“But I always try to keep my feet on the ground, because I know there will be times during any season when I’m not scoring.
“That’s when you have to get your head down and work at it, but I try not to worry if things aren’t going so well. I think I’m improving every year and I’m always looking to improve even further.
“With myself, John, Emile Heskey and Nathan Delfouneso in the squad, the gaffer has plenty of options up front.
“You need four or five strikers so there’s competition for places and I can only benefit from having such good players around me.”
