Albion head for Crystal Palace hunting a piece of history and a slice of revenge.

The Baggies face the relegation-threatened Eagles tonight knowing one more point would take them to 90 points for the first time in the club’s history.

But player of the season Graham Dorrans today primed the team for a week-long revenge mission as they take on Palace and Barnsley in their final two matches of the season.

Both teams have beaten the Baggies already this season and Dorrans believes those defeats will provide extra motivation.

He said: “The gaffer spoke to us about the record he wants to get. He spoke to us about it before the Middlesbrough game and hopefully we can get that for him.

“The gaffer really wants that. He spoke about it the other day and it’s something to set as a target.

“We can’t go any further than second, so it’s nice to have another target and hopefully we can reach it for the gaffer and the coaching staff. We’ve got two games left against Crystal Palace and Barnsley.

“They both beat us earlier in the season, so we will be looking for a bit of revenge and hopefully we can take points off them.

“It will be a tough game because they are fighting for their lives but we are confident and hopefully we can go there and get a result for our own sake, not anyone else’s.

“The home game against Palace was disappointing that they came here and beat us but hopefully we can put that right tonight.

“That should be enough motivation for us to get the points.”

Albion also have other statistics to focus on this evening.

They are looking to maintain their record of scoring in every one of their matches so far in 2010. A win or a draw this evening would set another new club record.

The Baggies have never lost fewer than four away games in a 42 or 46-game season, but they would end this campaign with just three losses on their travels if they stay unbeaten tonight.

Dorrans said: “We know we’ve got ability in the squad and we know we will create chances. We have scored in every single game since the turn of the year.

“If we concede it’s disappointing but we just have to get on with it and keep going.”

Di Matteo will check on goalkeeper and captain Scott Carson ahead of tonight’s match who is expected to shake off his ankle injury to play.

Winger Jerome Thomas (hamstring) and defender Gonzalo Jara (foot) are still missing.

Palace hope to welcome back strikers Calvin Andrew and Alan Lee.

Andrew missed last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Derby after still feeling the effects of a clash of heads the week before, which left QPR defender Damion Stewart with a fractured skull.

Lee has been struggling with a groin injury recently but was back in training last week.

The Eagles will be without left-back Lee Hills, who will miss the rest of this season and a large chunk of the next after suffering a cruciate injury at Pride Park.

Claude Davis will return at centre-half if he can shake off a knee injury which means Clint Hill could revert to full-back, otherwise Nathaniel Clyne is likely to deputise.

Paul Hart’s men know victory tonight would secure their Championship status for next season and condemn Sheffield Wednesday to relegation.

Any other result would set up a final-day showdown between the clubs on Sunday.

Hart, whose side were hit with a 10-point penalty for entering administration before his arrival, said: “We must try to deliver a performance and I know that if we play as we can, we can do it.

“The players have done nothing wrong and people don’t take into account the effect administration has had on them. It’s massive and they’ve done remarkably well considering.

“At one stage we had a schoolboy on the bench, terrible injuries and 10 points taken off us. If these players manage to stay up it’s a feat they should be revered for. We’re desperate for new ownership here, but I think Palace are set to rise again.

“I have two children, a lovely granddaughter, a nice house and a wife who doesn’t lock the door to me. Perhaps football doesn’t mean so much in the big swing of things.

“But I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been difficult. It has.”
