Wolves are safe in Premier League
Sunday 25th April 2010, 5:00PM BST.
Wolves have guaranteed their safety in the top flight and ensured there will be a Black Country derby in the Premier League next season.
After Albion’s promotion from the Championship and Wolves pulling to seven points clear from the drop zone yesterday, all the Molineux club needed was for Burnley to fail to beat Liverpool today to ensure their safety.
The relegation-threatened Clarets failed to live up to their end of the bargain and went down Turf Moor, miserably going down 4-0 in their own ground.
Two goals from Steven Gerrard, along with strikes from Maxi and Ryan Babel, ensured Wolverhampton will remain in the Premier League next season.

Well done lads – ESPECIALLY MICK! There was a clown on Radio WM after the game yesterday STILL moaning about Mick’s team selection at Man Utd!!! Would love to see less signings in the Summer – but more quality. Just four £7m signings would suit me. We all know where they are needed! I for one don’t want to see Foley playing midfield anymore! Well done SEB for a great goal yesterday! And I thought George had his best game this season. BRING ON THE ALBION, BLUES & VILLA!!!

Well done to ‘everyone connected with WWFC’. We’ve done what we set out to do, and that was ‘STAY-UP’,its been hard going at times, but fair play to ALL the Staff / Players / and ‘ALL the EXCELLENT SUPPORTERS’(Especially all YOU who go away. You always give ‘GREAT SUPPORT AWAY’from home, and everybody who’s stuck with the Manager/Players/Backroom Staff, all the way through whats been a exciting season at times, a very hard going one at other times, but hey we always knew it was going to be hard. Lets hope that ‘Steve Morgan’ digs a bit deeper into his ‘VERY DEEP POCKETS’ and gives Mick McCarthy/Jez Moxey the go ahead to ‘BUY’ 4-5 Better Class of Player than we’ve bought at times this season?, we need more depth on the Wings. Yes Jarvis as done well the last part of the season, as for Michael Kigthly? who knows how good he will be in the PL?. We dont even know how serious his injury problems really are?, so i think we need 1 if not 2 good wingers in. I would still go for Steve Hunt ive not changed my mind about him, like people have said why should he leave to come to us a team in a similar position, and we wouldn’t RESPECT our players if the left us when we needed them?. But we need to be looking at players in the £5M-10M bracket so about £25M-£30M will get us the 4-5 Better Class of players we need who would come to us and make us a better squad, adding to the decent players we’ve already got. And get rid of the 4-5 who’ve failed for whatever reason to improve our team this season. You are always going buy some players who dont improve you for whatever reason. I Hope we keep Wayne Hennessey (i hope he wants to stay too ), then we need cover at LB for competition with George Elokobi, another CH Jamie Carragher (Captain material)only 32yrs old not yet signed a NEW contract? Central Midfldr in the mould of Reo-Coker/Sidwell/Nolan/O’Hara,1-2 Wingers Hunt,Commons,(he can play with both feet) so would be useful, and 1 more Striker, Rodallega ( big/strong/pacy good goalscorer),Keane (dont need to explain he’s done it all and got it all),Fuller,(pacy/skilfull) Sturridge (loan),would be an excellent loan signing. I would like to think everyone at the club as I believe that the team spirit and cohesiveness of the squad has been the key to our survival.
I would also like to thank Alex Rae’s Butler, TrueWolves and the other proper fans who were on here in December etc supporting the club when we were in the trenches. Hopefully Bob, mod and Angry (and a few of the paella brigade) will find something else to do next season)

Where are all the Mick haters eh ? Where are you ?
On being employed – “hes the wrong man for the job”
On the championship – “McCarthy out, Ince in, Mick will never take us up”
On the Prem – “McCarthy Out, he’ll never keep us up”
Wrong, Wrong and wrong again.
Just admit you were wrong. You know who you are.
Its amazingly immature, but – WE TOLD YOU SO!
Super Mick McCqrthy !

Yes it feels good to have stayed up but I have a feeling this is down to the shortcomings of our rivals; the financial train wreck at Portsmouth and the shocking managerial appointments of Iain Dowie and Brian Laws.
Having said that, well done to Mick, Clipboard and even Moxey.
Now time to start the clearout for next year and get some quality players in – a centre half, a striker and 2 wingers for me. Chris Eagles and Aruna Dindane are the only players from the relegated teams that I would touch.
I’ll be there to celebrate at Pompey – beers are on me if you can fine me!!!

well done to the lads and MM fully deserved got your heads down since Christmas and pulled it of i knew you would do it. Lets raise the bar next season, some new signings less on quantity mor quality and of course Mick at the Helm.

It is outstanding that the team gets another shot next season. I really hope that the management pushs on from here with some quality additions and a more expansive approach to our games.
The fans deserve and need to see more wins AT HOME and a lot more goals next season. Realistically, the bottom 8-10 clubs were dire for most of the season including us. We need to demonstrate that we can not only hang in there but can contribute to improving the quality of what is on display. Anything less than that will have supporters questioning why they give up their hard earned money to watch bore draws and obsessively defensive play.
COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!

Well said No. 17, my sentiments exactly and you too Bob Wolf. Some realism amongst the euphoria wouldn´t go amiss. It´s great, great super great that we´ll be in the prem again next season, but no more hanging by a thread please. Goals are what win matches and we haven´t seen near enough of them.

Well done the lads, and to all the MM haters the second word is still OFF! admit it YOU WERE WRONG! the lads and Manager did us proud, yes we may need more quality-but- we still need to keep it in perspective and not bankrupt the club just for the sake of pleasing a few fans that don’t even go up.
To ALL those fans (me included)that do go match after match also need congratulating because the support has been fantastic home and away.
Lets hope for another 6 points before the end then push on next season.

It has been a dire season, but at least we survived!
The players grew in stature as they became Premiership players, a few haven’t made it unfortunately. Mick McCarthy has also grown in experience and he is now a better manager than he was at the start of the season.
Forget talk about changing manager, unless somebody world class suddenly decides that he wants to manage us! Mick has earned his chance to manage next season, so fair play says that he does.
Many changes will be needed for next season, and if we are going to keep on spending our hard earned money on Wolves, then we have to start scoring goals. I don’t want to see another season of dire hang-ons with no chance of us scoring… no way, not again!
Forget about imitating Stoke, widen the pitch again and ensure that we have 3 flying wingers at our disposal, so when we inevitably get injuries we don’t have to go defensive again. OK, Manure and Arsenal might gain from the extra space, but I think that’s all. Chelski don’t use the wings, and against everybody else the extra space will help us, not them.

We are extremely pleased that we have another go at the Premiership. To have done so with an inexperienced team is a great achievement. It was not going to be easy but Mick Mc Carthy did a splendid job like when he took Wolves with so many players out and he did his own with new and younger players he assembled to propel our team to a Championship title. Before that Wolves spent a lot of money but he clinched promotion with new players. I am sure he will have the opportunity now to move to another level and we shall not have that dreaded record of scoring few goals at home. If we had a fully fit S.E.Blake and Iwelumo performing as they can we could have clinched our survival some weeks ago. But Wolves had improved all the time to become a solid team at the back. Now we hope there will be some good buys as promised and we look forward to a new and exciting season. To all the fans plenty to shout about.

Absolutely delighted that Wolves have secured another Premiership season as all other fellow Gold and Black supporters on the Island and all those scattered around the world are too.
This they did with two matches to spare for the end of the season. It was also a pleasure to see Sylvan Ebanks-Blake put a disappointing season behind him with a well taken goal so I’m sure he is not the forgotten man of the Wolves squad. In the prevous two seasons he was the top scorer of the Championship and afetr missing more or less the whole season he comes back and scored the goal that virtually sealed survival.
It was a tall order for Burnley to win all their last three matches and for Wolves to lose their two remaining. But Wolves have the superior goal difference in their favour so promotion was sealed on Saturday bringing memories of the QPR win last year which sealed promotion to the Premiership.
All the players deserve a pat on the back for their great effort and we must not forget that two-thirds of the team or a bit less are Championship players and had no experience with the big boys.
Then with the arrival of excellent stopper Marcus Hahnemann, striker Kevin Doyle and a few others they managed to keep their head above water.
So the myth that Mick McCarthy never keeps his teams in the top flight is now gone although he had only one other chance with Sunderland.
This is his fourth season in charge. In the first one Wolves got into the play-offs, in the second they missed them by a couple of goals, in the third they won the Championship and in the fouth stayed in the top flight with an inexperienced team. Incredible record!
Maybe for next season the team is strengthened with quality players that won’t put the club in debt as witnessed by some teams who pay over the odds to keep their Premiership status and if this does not happen it will be financial ruin.
But I’m sure that the clubs directors have enough examples not to go the same way as those teams and keep the ship afloat as they always have done.
Well done Wolves!

Great achievement, and one we can now improve on next season.
And please let’s not have any more of ‘we’re only still up because the others are so poor’ We’re in a league:- some teams are better, some are worse, that’s how it works over the course of a whole season, and always has done. Our recent decent results against teams near the top, or middle, or below, are down to us, not anyone else – we deserve to remain in the premier league.
21 – of course we stayed up because of the shortcomings of our rivals – every team that stays up every year does that – because three teams are worse than them – what an obvious statement!
23 – next season will be just as hard if not harder than this – we will have to scrap and defend for our lives plenty of times again – we must be realistic in our expectations, but we can progress – the bottom half is a scrap and the football is not as pretty as some would have you believe, but two or three of the right players could help us climb a few places further next season.

Survival, the most important thing. But only just made it.
Who deserves the credit?
They all do, of course. But applause for the scouts for presenting the talent to McCarthy; and Moxey for his handling of the recruitment finances before the start of the season. especially after wat has happened to clubs like Portsmouth. They should not be forgotten.
And applause for Morgan is a steady owner. He played a cool hand in allowing McCarthy to manage even when things were going wrong – as they very, very often did.
The tactics McCarthy used in the last quarter of the season may well have been the difference between survival and relegation. I am not a fan of McCarthy’s but credit is due. But it came at a big prrice in blunting Woles attack and this may carry over into next season.
Again credit to Morgan for allowing time for McCarthy to correct McCarthy’s earlier mistakes.
There is the basis of a pretty good squad. Those who argue for just a few quality signings are probably right.
Let’s all hope that McCarthy has learned from this season. If not, he won’t be able to pull the same tactical change twice. The other clubs will be able to exploit it.
Finally: (a) no long trips to Australia – medical advice is that it takes weeks if not months to recover and (b) will we widen the fielld?

There have been too many Mick haters on here during the season. I’ve not always agreed with Mick’s choices, but you have to have belief for the long term – maybe that’s why I’m apparently a ‘happy clapper’. One person back in October was so opinionated he had to tell us how right he always was – which is why I copied it, knowing I could paste it today. The sort of person you wouldn’t want to be next to in a pub really. Here it is, exactly as posted:
Ad Mant said:
Oct 3rd, 2009 at 7:42 pm For those Happy Clappers brave enough to log on, and children under the age of 5 (though I suspect this is the same demographic) :
This is what is meant by ” the writing on the wall”
I hope Pompey paid the ref handsomely for todays game but it does nothing to deter from the fact that the 1st half was a disgrace and that if Mick Mccarthy is still in charge of Wolves come January the 2nd we will be relegated. Absolutely clueless.
Doyle, Hennessey, Kightly and Jarvis – you have brilliant futures ahead of you – dont let this bonehead muppet mick screw it up for you.

Well, Ad Mant –I’m sure we’re all grateful, but please don’t bother ‘telling it like it is’ from 2010.

Not going to rub anyone’s nose in it. We all have opinions, and are entitled to them. As those of you have read any of my posts know, I am very firmly in the “Happy Clapper” corner.
I must admit that I get slightly miffed when I read that we are only staying up because of how bad Hull, Burnley and Portsmouth are. What about Wigan and West Ham who are also below us? We may yet overtake Bolton for fourteenth spot.
Look at the teams we have taken points from so far this season. Tottenham (two wins) are vying for top four, as are Villa (two draws.) Everton are top eight (two draws) and Liverpool are pushing for Europe (1 draw and a loss only after a harsh sending off.) Fulham are Europa Cup semi-finalists (a win and a draw.) Add to that the close losses against Arsenal away, Man Utd home and other tight losses, and we have had a good season.
Thank-you Mick and the lads. In you I still trust.

A really important statement was made by Wolves, and by their “loyal” fans, not only to the world’s arguably best League, but to their own select supporters, especially those who could not be anything more than routinely cynical, especially when their true unsavory colours were shown in spades, in and out of Molineux, to not help in backing Mick and all his playing staff.
Hopefully, new optimism comes to the fore and those who cannot be willing to pull their oar in the same direction with the club and the majority of faithful supporters will jump overboard and let us celebrate; their decidely dead weight throughout the season made the slogging more than it needed to be.
Thus, well done, Wolves, for battling the best and coming through with flying Gold and Black colours! “Out Of The Darkness Cometh The Light!”

Safe at last, brilliant, cheers Burnley, Now to clear out the dead wood starting with the muppet, who is responsible for rubbish signings and poor management, and it will be the same next season without proper change. If mick’s a god what does that make McLeish look at our position compared to Brum.

Im so proud of everyone at Wolves, what an amazing achievement Mick McCarthy has done since taking over after Mr Twoddle 3 years ago! I wasnt a MM fan but now iv got to say that hes the best manager we’v had for a long long long time.To think that when he took over we had hardly any players and to where we are now is incredible and he deserves everyones praise.
Players such as Jarvis,Henry and Jones have got better and better and the best is yet to come!
LASTLY ID LIKE TO SAY WELL DONE TO EBANKS BLAKE! he was carrying a bit too much weight at the start ov the season.as you have to be mobile in the premier league he needed to sharpen up and judging by saturdays little cameo he looks brighter and fitter than ever.THIS GUY IS A GOAL MACHINE, NEVER FORGET THAT. A truly remarkable feat from all associated with Wolves. Big Yorkshire grit coupled with Black Country wit has kept us up. Give Mick the freedom of the City of Wolverhampton….he so deserves it. A big thank you from me to Steve Morgan for being well behind the scenes as the club owner without inteference from the top (unlike Hull, WHU & a few others). Jez you were right “job done”.
Ok season two: Remember Hull survived last season & look almost certain to go this season, I can’t see them winning one let alone two to overhaul WHU if they lose two. West Hams defeats & Hulls wins would need to be serious cricket scores to do that, but what I’m trying to say is our Neighbours survived under Bryan Robson once but went down the second season.
Do we really need Jimmy Bullard & Stephen Hunt, or indeed any of Portsmouths relegated players. O’Hara would be different as he is a Spurs player. I still believe Milijas will come good, so will Vokes & Surman but maybe loan them to a CCC side. We need to rid ourselves of Iwelumo, Halford, Maihoffer for certain. Probably a few other fringe players could go or send them out on loan. Make a play for Scholes from Utd.
It could be an interesting summer coming up, hope Mick doesn’t give all his time to the TV during the WC as we have some serious recruiting to do in the close season. We have to steal a march on all other clubs including those promoted. Watch this space also as I believe Celtic will make a move for our beloved Yorkshireman…. where would we be without his post match comments……….!!!

The undoubted. Most Succesful Wolves manager for 30 years.
You can not argue with it. FACT.

I knew we would survive, but i thought survival would come on the last day of the season. So its with great joy we Wolves fans can enjoy the last two games, and i look forward to the Sunderland game (we could finish out of the bottom six), and give the team and our magician of a manager a standing ovation on their lap of honour.
I believe that the 3M’s have already identified their targets for next season and players on their way out. Next season will be tough the realistic aim next season is to score between 40 – 50 pts, hope we can have a wider pitch, play 4-4-2 at home, keep 4-5-1 for away games and for top six sides.
Finally can the club come clean about Kites I hear rumours that he won’t recover from injury.

Have to eat a bit of humble pie here, after the Jan window I never thought we would do it and came on this site a few times to slag off the three M’s.I was was proved wrong and we have achieved our target for the season: survival.Well done to everyone at the club

Here we go AGAIN!!! Credit where its due to ALL concerned at the club – BUT for goodness sake we went down to the final 3 games and the comments about Moxey being right re: Job done???
If it was ‘Job Done’ in pre season we would be mid table – NOT breathing a huge sigh of relief 3 games before the end
Celebrate YES But for goodness sake put things into perspective – the words ‘skin of teeth’ spring to mind
Moxey did’nt get the ‘Job Done’ at the start of the season – MM and Co struggled with what he was allowed to have – so imv MM and Co and the fans deserve ALL the plaudits and praise
Finally – Not enough goals may go against us NEXT season so lets hope we get proper investment into the quality we so badly lack – 4 to 5 Premier Proven players is what our youngsters need to help them and improve
Sky were reporting the £907,000 per goal from Hull’s shot shy strikers – so where does that place ours???
Well Done to ALL at Wolves – Imv Mr Moxey needs to buy MM and Co a very large drink indeed!!!

Like Robert Perry and many others I thought after the lack of transfer activity in Jan that we would go down.I did always express a belief that Mick can organise and motivate a team but I thought lack of quality would catch us out.It is clear that we have an exceptional manager who does things his way.The biggest risk now is we might lose him to another club. Also let us not forget Sir Jack this morning. He was directly involved in the appointment of Mick McCarthy and his unprecedented generosity by selling the club to King Midas Steve Morgan, has put us in a very healthy financial position.PLEASE Jez Moxey now deliver Mick’S NO1 targets this summer.Well done again to all at Wolves.

This season has to be viewed as a success in that survival has been attained. I am particularly proud that most of the boys who did it were the title winning boys from last year in the Championship.
Next season will be interesting to see how the club can progress. In some respects it will be just as hard to attract established players here, but the advantage this year is that MM knows how each player he has got can cope with Premier League football; at the start of the season this was guess work.
I think MM will know who he wants to keep, who he wants to let let go, and hopefully an attainable list of players who will bring more quality to the team.
I also applaud Steve Morgan for his financial prudence, I know I would rather be a Burnley fan than a Hull one at the moment, but that is just an aside as we are safe.
Absolutely delighted that we have managed to avoid what I felt was almost inevitable relegation earlier in the season.
I am not a fan of MM but, credit where credit is due, he and the squad have done a great job in keeping in the Prem for another year.
However, whilst not wishing the take the gloss off what clearly has been a fantastic achievement, second season syndrome can present as much if not more of a challenge for a promoted team …. just ask the inbreds down the road or Phil Brown and the fans of Hull City!
So clearly there will be the need for some wise investment in the squad over the summer months to strengthen what everyone recognises are areas of weakness in the team. That said, finacial prudence and the need to avoid doing a Pompey or a Hull are also critical…. remember it’s not just about the transfer fees but also the wages. I have every confidence that Mr Moxey (despite his many critics) will protect the future of our club in this regard.
Finally, for those on this board who have been having “a pop” at the anti Mick brigrade, please remember football is about opinions and just because an individual has been critical of MM does not mean that they are any less a fan of our great club. The sad inevitability of the football world (unless you are Alex Ferguson or, maybe, Arsen Wenger)is that eventually we will all fall out of love with MM….. unless of course he walks before he is pushed.
Still that debate will be for another day… hopefully a long time hence. In the meantime, I would like to reiterate my congratultions to everyone linked to our great club and I intend to enjoy every moment of this fantastic achievement while I can.
WWFC for life!

Well done to everyone at Molineux, we as a club have achieved exactly what MM set out to do at the start of the season and anything better than 17th will be a massive bonus.
Some of the so called “dire” games have been better to watch for
90 Minutes rather than having the dire feeling of being relegated hanging over us for at least 12 Months !
YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD TO GET TO THE TOP………..YOU HAVE TO BE BETTER TO STAY THERE !
Congratulations lads, Im sure we are all just as proud of you now as we were this time last season.
Absolutely delighted with the final outcome, my sincere congratulations to everyone concerned. Hopefully some very hard lessons will have been learned from this season and with a little more experience and better planning the management will have a far less stressful second season in the PL.
Lots of folks on here suggesting which new players they would like, however I would like to see some definate improvement within the coaching staff. Les Ferdinand’s inclusion as attacking coach at Spurs was a very shrewd move as their league position and recent scoring record proves. A more positive approach up front next season will not only aleviate the stress but make it far more exciting for the paying punters.
I don’t want to see overpriced prima donna’s earning mega bucks, I would prefer home grown lads coached by proven people they can look up to and respect.

67 – get real man – who are the “big name” players coming to Wolves next season then? and how do you Mick can’t work with them until he has had the chance – he did pretty well with Ireland didn’t he, haven’t seen them qualify for a tournament since he left.
74 – enjoy albion’s season in the top flight next year!
91 – you name could not be more correct – exactly who in this league, with what was basically a championship team full of players who have never played at this level, were we going to be playing fantastic attacking football against and beating 3,4,5-0? we fought for our lives and if you expected it would be any different at the start of the season you need to get a grasp of reality. we all hope it will be better next season, let’s see who we bring in. meanwhile – chin up man, would you rather we went back down?!

A job done, Like Chris Hoggard and the old gits I have attended at the Mol since 1953 and have witnessed the ups and downs of this GREAT club.I have been cynical this season due to the lack of ambition in the transfer market.A lot of you seem to have forgotten that this is MORGANS club and he can do with it as he wishes. It is HIS money NOT the clubs. Will he spend a large chunk of it next season? He needs to,but will he? As far as McCarthys performance goes,he messed around with the team so much for half the season playing players out of position and it was only when Morgan read him the riot act after the nonsense at old Trafford that we had a settled side and started producing the results. This combined with vast improvement by individual players has kept us up.Beware Second Season Syndrome.Morgan get in the players to keep us improving year by year till we reach the heights that this great club deserves.

104 – purlease, this has to be a wind up right?!

Good news for Wolverhampton Wanderers and good news for the City. A premiership football team is worth a considerable amount to the economy of a City and puts the name of this City back onto the international stage.
Mr. McCarthy has performed a small miracle, it seems to me. At the start of this season I seem to remember all the commentators dismissing Wolves’ chances of remaining in the Premiership.
Softly, softly, cachee monkey. Next season one would expect the team has sufficient credibility to be able to attract new talent on which to build.
These players will get better. SEB cannot be ruled out yet. He was injured and had no pre-season. A great finish and a superb cross from Wardy – who is playing with an injury. Elokobi had another good game after his man of the match performance at Fulham.
Hopefully we will get 14th spot and then there will be officially 6 worse teams than us!

24 – what a brainless idiot you are.
Skin of teeth? 7 points clear? Clearly your understanding of simple sentences is second only to your knowledge of football. When you’re as stupid as you and your ilk are you lose the right to an opinion.
Also I don’t see many on here apologising to Super Mick for the slatings he’s been getting all season. I can just see the mindless comments when we lose at Chelsea next year.
We obviously need to ship a few out (thanks to everyone for stating the obvious) and bring some quality in. But let’s enjoy the end of the season and then worry about who we’ll sign next year eh?
See you all at Portsmouth.

Even if I agreed on your view of MM, which I don’t, what makes you think Houlier would want to come to Wolves. We are not a big club anymore!
He just wouldn’t take the risk, or would demand an excessive transfer kitty which may damage the clubs future health
How do you know what MM would do with a few better players at his disposal?.
I think he has mangaged this squad very well.
Win the next two games ( both are potentially winnable) and we will be up tp 14th.
That would be a staggering success…..surely?
Well done to Mick and the players – In the end we’ve stayed up reasonably comfortably and still have two games to play. We must also give credit to Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey for holding their nerve when things were a bit ‘iffy’ earlier in the season.
Three or four sensible signings in the summer and next season we can aim to finish a few places higher. The same names continue to be mentioned – Robbie Keane, Nicky Shorey etc etc, but one person I would take a punt on is Charlie Adam from Blackpool who has been the best playewr in the Championship this year.
In my opnion, we shouldn’t ditch the 4-5-1 system, it helps keep us solid. We just need more attacking threat in the wide positions and a central midfielder who is prepared to gamble now and again. Better teams than us use this system – Man Utd for one.
Upwards on onwards

Great season and so pleased Albion made it back, congratulations. Next season will be amazing, one or two additions and SEB back in form. We must plan to start with a 442 mentality and hope it clicks in early and the goals come, if not we revert to 451 and make it impossible to be beat. Clearly MM has learnt and hopefully he has ten very successful years ahead of him. I fancy a cup win next year, I really do.
Bob Wolf – Are you really dense or something, we have stayed up because there were three teams worse than us. Isnt that obvious that due to others shortcoming and finishing below us is the reason they went down??? Which shows Wolves had less shortcomings than others in the league. So well done Wolves, well done Mick, thoroughly deserved. And Sylvan even scored too.
Amazing 2 years as a Wolves fan.

Congratulations to Mick and the the outstanding efforts from everyone of the team. Just 1 defeat in the last 8 games (and that was a 94th minute goal at Arsenal) has been the key to survival. The fight shown by the lads in the gold shirts has been inspirational for me and I want to thank everyone of them. As for Mick, I believe he has not only proven his doubters wrong (myself included at times), but he has also probably proved to himself that he can be a success following the Sunderland heartache a few seasons back.Well done Mick, Team and the fans. To Danny Baker who said we would be slaughtered by every team….the most goals scored against us was 3 goals. We did the double over Spurs, and WE DID manage to play some decent football and compete, we showed many signs of class. Commentators on the tv, who in the past have run us down have stated that our side is too good to go down. In many matches we have competed well and played some very good stuff, i, as are many fans are very very proud, we deserved to stay up and not by luck but by bloody hard work, determination, and have never looked out of place. We have got a young team who you can see will keep getting better. I love you wanderers, always have, always will, no matter what. I started going up in our first season in division 4, so i have seen it all, home and away.
